What are you guys seeing for normal oil temps? Cruising at 80 with 37's and heavier aftermarket axles I'm seeing 230-245. Seems a bit warmer than my 3.6 JL.
Does anyone know if the oil cooler uses air or engine coolant?

392's installed in a car chassis use a oil to water cooler.
I dont have my 392 yet ,but I would assume its the same.
245 is getting up there and conventional oil will start to break down at that temp.
A top tier synthetic can take that temp on a consistant basis, but I would still prefer it to be lower myself.

It stables around 230. If I’m driving aggressively or long up hill it will get to 245. If I floor it going 6% uphill the it goes over 250 but It cools right down to 230 afterwards.

You could always install a secondary aftermarket oil cooler. Most are air cooled and can be mounted most anywhere.

My 392 is also on 37s with beadlocks, but I don't think mine is running that hot. I usually have off-road pages up, I'll try and get a better number and report back but that does sound on the high side off the top of my head.

Here is my 392's temps after 5 mins on the highway doing 65. 37" tires with beadlocks, so decent amount of weight.

Thanks for the specifics. It's nice to have a comparable.
I see temps in the high 240's if I'm running over 2400rpm for very long. Even with a light engine load.

Here’s another example on stock 33s while driving normal. I’ve consistently see 230 sitting in traffic and 240 when driving her aggressively.

Thanks for posting what you are seeing.
It’s tough to not drive them aggressively, right? It’s too much fun!

Bringing this thread back to life. I'm averaging around 240 oil temp when i'm having some fun, not super aggressive driving but harder than normal. Seems high but also seems that's pretty average. Anyone else want to weigh in?

The computer is fully capable of doing what it needs to do to keep the operating parameters in check.

With 5.38 Dynatrac XD60/60s, 40” STT Pros/KMC beadlocks cruising at 70mph (2200 RPM) I’m seeing 239 oil temps at sea level in 90 degree ambient temps. Little higher than I’m used to but I’m buying a trailer soon to yank this thing to wheeling spots so it s a mute issue. Just another data point.
