Can someone with these tires mounted to 17x9 wheels take a measurement of the face of the treads and the height of the tire? I have 37x12.5x17 Yokohama geolander mts and they only measure 36.2x 10" . Looking to get a wider tire and a little more height.

I previously had 38x13.5 Pat's on my 17x9 wheels. They measured about 37.5" @ 35psi and under the weight of the Jeep. That measurement was taken when they only had a hundred or so miles on them. I never measured the width, but I now have a set of 40x13.5 Pat's @ the same 35psi.

I just ran out and measured and they are actually 13.5" between outermost sidewall bulges and the treads are a hair over 11" wide.

Pics of the 38's and 40's...

What lift do you have? I have the Mopar 2" which on the rubicon in 3.25". I have 37x12.5s now and it looks like I could go bigger. Considering 40s vs 38" pats. I've regeared to 5.13s. I think I can fit 38s without doing anything other than some plastic trimming and maybe adding a little bump stop, not sure about 40s.

They didn't seem to have a problem mounting and balancing mine with a road force machine.

How do you like the 40’s? Went to the 38’s in November from 37x12.50 x-mt’s. Re-geared to 5.38’s in March and in my opinion it’s too low. Obviously won’t throw money away regearing again, but 39-40’s will be the next set of tires in a year or 2. Happy with the Pat’s so far, but the real test is in 11 days when we hit the Rubicon trail.

I have the Metalcloak 3.5" Gamechanger, which originally gave 4.5", but its at 4" over stock now after some added weight.

Assuming you still have the factory control arms, other than the 1/4" longer front lowers that come with the mopar lift, so you might be able to fit 38's without too much issue. You'll definitely have to chop the rear fenders and ditch the fender to rear bumper filler panels.

They're great. The northeast has a lot of trails that are endless rock gardens, so getting the diffs as high as possible was my priority. I did lose a bit of articulation compared to with the 38's.

Also, I'm still on the factory 4.10's. Shorter gears weren't even a blip on the radar with the 38's, but the 40's have changed that. It's yet to be a problem, so I can easily hold off until I go with larger axles that I'll have built with 5.38's. The 2.0 engine is a bit better at resisting the need for a regear than the 3.6 engine.

You have 5.38's in the factory 44's, or larger axles?

Factory 44's. Forward gears with the 2.0t were still more than sufficient with the factory 4.10's. Reverse was the annoying part. Deep mud, sand, or snow the engine wanted to bog in reverse. Of course shifting into 4LO eliminated that problem, but those 3 surfaces are the last place I want to be in low range. Definitely not a problem anymore, but did drop from 17mpg average to 15 with the deep gears. For 38's I think 4.88's would be perfect with the 2.0t, but if I'm spending the money regearing I'm jumping in with both feet right in the deep end.
