Know this is digging up the past but what offset/backspacing were you running with this set up?I put on a set of new shoes this week. 39” BFG KM3’s. I think there are the perfect fit right now. My next set will definitely be 40’s. Running 3.5” MetalCloak GameChanger. Still need to split the rear fenders. We were into the bumps hard and it was just slightly rubbing the liner so that will take care of itself when I get the AAL liners. We’ll see if I need to trim the pinch weld. The 60’s are ordered and will be here the in a couple weeks.
I'm a big fan of KMC's XD series wheels. I believe those are the Machete Crawls and have -38mm offset and 3.5" of backspace.Know this is digging up the past but what offset/backspacing were you running with this set up?
5:13 gears, Chrome moly shafts, artec truss, no issues at all.Nice looking Jeep, even better that you are crawling trails. Are you rolling stock axles? If so what gear ratio do you have? Have you had any issues with the axles and 40’s on the hard trail? Thanks
Same here. Had 38x13.5's for nearly 40k miles, and the 2.0 with 4.10's was just fine. Yeah, it didn't feel quite as snappy as it did with 33's or 35's, but it wasn't slowed down in its ability to run up to high speed enough to bother with a regear and the associated weaker ring and pinion mesh. I've been on 40x13.5's for about 5k miles now, and I'll admit that shorter gears have moved a bit up from the back of my mind, but it still gets up and runs fine enough to hold off until it's time for larger axles. At that point, I'll probably go with 5.38's to account for both the tall tires and the added axle weight. I give the 2.0's low and mid range torque the lions share of the credit for offsetting the not optimal gearing.I just stepped up to 40's. Yokohama XMT 40x13.5x17. So far so good. I may need to trim a little in the rear, but no rubbing on the street. I rarely get offroad so not too worried. Ball joints ordered and deciding on whether to truss first or go chromoly shafts. I want both, but I'm thinking shafts make more sense now for 99% street driving. Surprisingly the 2.0 and 4.10s seem to be doing just fine. My mileage has been the same in town but I feel like I've been driving less aggressively knowing I'm on stock axles.
Where did you get your coil springs made?I am running a one off lift, 5" custom spun dual rate springs, full set of Core 4x4 tier 4 control arms, custom fabricated sway bar links, Chromemoly adj trackbars, fabed bump stops, Fox prototype shocks, Adams driveshafts, Cooper SST PRO 40X13.50X17 ON MACHETE BEADLOCKS, Warn 10S Platinum winch with plate, Factor 55 links front and rear. It runs, drives and wheels like a stock rig.
Yes I know it's a Jeep like a lot of people say but those tires have got to be loud on the highway. My Cooper SST pros in 37s about 15,000 miles on them just got too damn loud I want to hear the radio and talk on the phone LOL without people saying I can't hear you I'm going back to the ridge grapplers that's a pretty good Tire doesn't look as aggressive as in my tire but it still has a nice look and they're damn quiet on the highwayMickey Thompson Baja Pro X 38s with the mopar lift (diesel). Fitment is great but wouldn’t go any bigger on this setup. Pretty impressed with how the tires ride as aggressive as they look.
they certainly aren’t quiet but with the hardtop on it can still hear my music at a reasonable volume. I don’t do much highway driving working remote either so it works for me.Yes I know it's a Jeep like a lot of people say but those tires have got to be loud on the highway.
