Has anyone tried 38" tires on a XR stock wheels with no lift, Curious if they rub and would clear the bumper on the tire carrier.

My 37 would not clear the rear bumper without the Mopar extensions. Youā€™ll also need the tail light relocation kit if you go the Mopar route.

After a while whenever I get my 392XR I'm going with a 3.5 lift and 37's/38's

Iā€™m hesitant to lift it, rides so damn good.

Nope not yet, it's been in transportation for 3 weeks now. I would think any day now. That is my wives Rubicon, she's been driving for 6 months now she wants to go taller and bigger tires. OH BOY!

Ha.

Well that's not too far off now... my last few have taken about that long by train. This one was trucked to dealer so it was fast, but then it was a painful wait getting it back to AZ.

You will rub with any tire larger than the stock 35's if you are planning on flexing it out off-road. Some modifications to the inner fenders may allow you to upsize a bit more without lifting.

Whatever you do I suggest you do not decrease available travel to fit bigger tires if you plan to trail your rig. If you want to run 38's I'd go with a 3.5" lift and only install as many bump stops as required to clear the tires. I'm doing a 2.5" lift with the stock 35" tires to get some additional travel out of the suspension.

Just for reference. This guy has 2.5ā€ Teraflex boost spacer lift and 38s while waiting on a full lift to come in. Looks good

I had metal cloakā€™s 2.5ā€ on 38s with my 2019 JL, I love that it doesnā€™t look ā€˜tooā€™ lifted (if thats a thing haha). If I could do it again Iā€™d go the exact same route With my 392. Then again I was also running Road Armor fenders and AAL inner fenders. Heres my 2019 next to my XR the day I picked it up.

Bigger tires always looks cooler in pics but I had to be realistic with myself. For what I want the jeep for there's nothing the 35s couldn't do and the jeep does ride so good with the 35s and it's fast lol I don't wanna give up one bit if performance or make the gas mileage any worse. Def sticking with 35s. Looks perfect to me.

You enjoy being in the bump stops all the time????
It doesn't hit the bump stops on the same spots where my Gladiator would, so far so good. I haven't hit them once actually (surprisingly). I'm not tempted to change anything anytime soon. Once break in is over and I run it a bit harder, we'll go from there. If I change the shocks they'll likely get swapped with the 2.5" fox's from accutune.
