Here's another on stock rims, 37x12.5x17 general grabbers. I have spacers sitting in my garage, not sure if I want to put them on though.

I'll see if I can remember to take some, the only rubbing I've had has been in the rear with suspension compressed. Side note, that rubbing is without removing any plastic at all.

Thanks. You can fix the rear rubbing with longer bumstops.

Or remove plastic, which is the plan soon since it will remove itself on the trail anyway.

I have about 2-3" between the frame and the tire.

Cody,

You’re going to rub on the control arms when drooping the axle. Turn out the steering stops with the axle drooped a couple turns and it will clear fine. I think I turned mine out about 1-1.5 turns each side. Here’s mine drooped prior to steering stop adjustment. It will only happen in certain circumstances though. At ride height it’s fine. It doesn’t take much adjustment to fix it. You won’t even notice.

Thanks for that info, I'm tempted to put spacers on, it would be nice to have that area to step on the tire when I get around to finding a roof rack. I'll probably be going with a new lift soon as well.

I take it no noticeable steering difference turning those out ?

Most 37’s need to be mounted on 8.5” wheels and the stock wheels are 7.5”. Many installers won’t even mount the tires for you on under spec wheels. 37’s have a lot of sidewall and they look kinda pulled in on small wheels. Could be an issue when cornering in the right situation.

I’m in a similar situation, I want the 37’s but like the look of the factory wheel. In the end I’m going with new wheels to avoid issue.

This JL has 37’s on stock wheels.

37” Yokohama geolander x-mt’s. 2.5” spacer lift. Rubbed on the lower front bumper skid when turning. Pulled it off and trimmed. Moab Wednesday will tell me if I need spacers. It’s the wife’s daily driver, so I already need to order sliders with a step. Wheeled it stock for the first year, but didn’t want to be belly dragging in Moab so lift and tires went on this weekend. The 7.5” wheel is fine.

OnlyOne hit it on the head. Desert racers used to mount 12.5" wide tires on 7" wheels all the time (before beadlocks) because they hold the bead better than a wider rim. As for rock crawling, your rim is better protected from the rocks. Bszczepanski and OnlyOne - your rigs look great!
Yup. Thanks for the info here in this thread. I am going to keep stock wheels. Now I just need to figure out if I'll need tire carrier reinforcement with 37s...

Got it done and I love how it came out with the mopar lift and 1 3/4 spacers. These Cooper tires are great and very quiet for a mud tire.

This image was from 2.5 years ago. You should take another shot with your daughter (or grand daughter? Or niece?). I’m gonna guess that she is ‘taller than the tire now” LOL......

OK...question. Why is it OK to mount a 12.50 tire on a 7.5 inch wheel if its a 35 but not OK to mount the same 12.50 if its a 37?
Had the same question. You'd think the 37 would work better with more sidewall. Wish it had been answered.

The question has been answered by dozen's of us who do run 37x12.50's on stock rims without issues. From tough trails to thousands of freeway miles, they work just fine.
