How much ground clearance in inches do you get with those tires and that lift on your Sahara? 12?

Also, what's the black thing attached between the two hinges on the rear door?

Thanks for posting
Around 14” I’d say. The black thing is a hinge step for better access to the roof.

Wow, didn't know it would add that much ground clearance. It would be really nice to be able to slide under the jeep to work on it without jacking it up every time

2.5” from lift and around 1.5” from the tires.
Yep, when I’m bored I just slide under the Jeep on my creeper and enjoy a cold one.

Do installers give you grief for trying to mount a 305/70R18 on a 7.5" rim, when the manufacturer says the minimum width is 8.5? Or any 35" tire that wants larger than a 7.5" rim?

I'm trying to do the same thing, get as close to 35" in height on a stock Sahara wheel. I just can't afford new rims right now after picking up my new (to me) 2019 Sahara, and the AEV 2.5" DualSport lift.

I see an opportunity for a million $$ idea - a web crawler that populates a database so that you can say "give me all tires over 34" in diameter that fit on a 7.5" rim! :)

True 35 skinnies on 2.5” lift and stock wheels, and no wheel spacers.
Tire is 285/75/18 Duratracs. (35.1x11.2)

That looks great, I had 33x10.50's on my TJ and liked them much better than 33x12.50s

Was it looks or performance based? I could see how a skinny tire would have less friction, drag, on performance. Back when I wheeled in Az the only problem I found with the 10.5 is they would throw the Jeep around and jerk the wheel when they locked into a rut.

My TJ was a 4cyl and the pizza cutters helped. It did fall into ruts but it's not much better with 12.50's around here. The ruts are bad and most of them are probably 12.50 wide

Timely thread and great looking tires. I really appreciate the photos. I was looking at possibly reducing the wheels to 17" and increasing the rubber to 33". Based on videos I saw, there was some talk about losing power on heavier tires starting at about 35" and getting in to things like changing gear ratios. I really don't want to go down that road. The wheel and tire combos added up to about $3000 which I also would like to avoid.

Staying with the stock rims looks good and the Duratrac skinnies are perfect width and shouldn't stick much outside the Sahara fenders. Thanks again for this lead!

Question: Regarding the spare, does anyone know if replacing the spare with the 285-75-18 Duratrac will fit on a stock Sahara spare tire carrier?

I thought I’d read here someone just had some rubbing on the bumper when opening the tailgate with a 33.8”-ish diameter tire.

I did 305 70 18 with no lift and seemed to work fine but I don't think any off-roading would work since then I added a lift but you can at least get an idea.

When you put those 35” tires on did you also do any regearing? I am considering doing the same and am trying to get a better idea of how the larger wheels affect power and performance with the saharas stock 3.45 ratio

Even with the 2.0, 4.56’s were a welcome change. I got 8th gear back, less downshifting, and the Dana Spicer gear set was noticeably quieter than the stock 3.45’s, surprisingly.
