I have a 2.5 inch lift with 37s on my Rubicon jlu. My dads is lifted 3.5 inches with 37s and a friends with 35s on stock.
Mine drives the best of the three. I have a king/evo build. It feels better then stock in my opinion. However my dads has way more flex then mine and more clearance (which is to be expected).
If you drive more then you offroad then 35s is fine. My friend complains that his 35s rub offroading though.
If you're going to crawl, that one extra inch and greater traction make a massive difference.
Thanks for the post!

Here's my 2019 JLUR with stock suspension on 35x12.5. Wheels are zero offset and they stick out about 2" from the flares. Even running the KM3 tires, rides great with only a little more noise than the stock 33" K02.

Your tires sticking about 2" past the fender flares... that is the look that I want with my 2020 JLRU when it arrives. Do you think that if I mount 35" X 12.5" X 17" tires onto my factory Rubicon wheels/rims, that in order to have the tires stick out 2" past the fender flares that I would need to use wheel spacers?

You may need to use spacers with the stock wheels as I believe the offset if different. At least you have a reference with a zero offset wheel as to how much the tires (12.5") will protrude. You could always upgrade the tires on the stock wheels, mount them and then determine if you want to invest in spacers for the the look. Personally, I don't like the idea of spacers but everyone is different and has different needs.

I bought my JLUR with 35s and stock gears. Upgraded to 37s with 5.13 gears. Handles great, 70 mpg no problem. I could not be happier. Remember, it is a brick, so wind will wobble you around a bit. 5.13s made all the difference.

18 Rubicon with mopar lift and 37x12.5x17 ridge grapplers for about a year now and 13,000 miles. Live in FL and drive over 80 to work daily. Handles better than stock, but still has the wandering issues to some extent. I debated 35s vs 37s ad nauseam and glad I went with 37s. Ridge grapplers are amazing and so quiet, especially compared to my F150 with STT pros.

Will be upgrading to 4.88s in the spring and also adding control arm relocation brackets to dial in more caster.

Thank you.
Here is how my Rubicon on stock suspension with 315/70/17 BFG Ko2s, (basically 35x12.50). They sit flush with the fender on stock wheels. No rubbing yet for daily driving. Haven't gotten out of the mall yet.

Your Jeep looks amazing! I love the larger tires! Are you happy with how they line up with the edge of the fender flares or are you considering 1-2" wheel spacers?

I really have no experience or knowledge if wheel spacers change the way the Jeep handles and feels on the road.

I wanted to pose this question about 35" tires vs 37" tires on a JLRU for a daily driver. In the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, unless you are driving 70-90 mph on the freeways, you WILL get run over. I prefer the looks and clearance advantages of 37" tires over the 35" tires, but was curious about how secure the ride is when traveling 70-90 mph? I commute about 30 miles a day. My understanding is that 35" tires on the Rubicon will work fine on the factory wheels/rims and that, for the most part, a lift is not needed. For the 37" tires, wider wheels/rims are recommended and a minimal 2" lift is needed, although most of you have probably gone with a 2.5" - 3.5" lift. So I guess the question has to include a lift with the 37" tires.

Answers here would really be important for those of you who have had both 35" tires and 37" tires/with a lift setups. As always, thank you for your responses

When I first got my JL, I put 35" Toyo MT's on it. I drove it with 35's for about a month, then after wheeling it a few times and dragging the belly over rocks too much, I decided to add a little lift. I found the Mopar lift for $795 online and ordered it. I had planned to stick with the 35's but after installing the lift, just felt the JL looked stupid with the 35's and 3" of lift, so I ordered 37x13.5 Coopers. I live in DFW too and commute about 30 miles on 121 to work. Unlike the JK which definitely felt slow on even 35's, the JL doesnt seem to take much of a hit from even 37's. I still drive 85-90 every day to work. I'll probably regear at some point but so far I don't feel a huge need to do so. I'm running 37x13.6 Cooper Discoverer STT Pros on 17x8.5 Mopar Beadlocks.

Im in the 35 - 37 boat as well, and while I like the look of 35s and the ease of use with possibly not having to add a lift etc , I cant help to look at the 37s in awe of how they give the jeep such a monster stance compared to the 35s - I was told though (being a jeep noob) that once you go 37s the can of worms included new axles etc bc of the weight - but how many people buy 35s thinking its good enough and see the 37s and regret the 35s ? that's the can of worms I don't want lol ...

Honestly, the 37's being a whole new can of worms was more of a factor on the JK than the JL. The JK had a weaker front axle that required you to sleeve and gusset it or risk bending it with larger tires. I haven't heard of any issues with the JL and 37's. In my case, I was running Toyo MT's for 35's and noticed that the weight of those at 35" was about the same as the Coopers at 37" so I felt pretty safe in the switch. I've had zero issues and don't regret it one bit.
