Hey all--
wanting to upgrade my tires to 35" AT. was looking at the KO2s but sites are saying they wont fit the vehicle. Wondering where the hell to start with research. Do you need to replace rims as well usually when getting bigger tires? Will I need a lift? if so, which should i get....yadda yadda.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum!

You need to get 285/75R18 tires, which is 35x11 inches. KO2 does not come in that size, unfortunately. But Duratrac, Falken Wildpeak and Cooper Discoverer do, among a few others.

You won’t need spacers, but you will need a lift for the tires to clear the fenders.

That is best look on a Sahara IMO: the stock wheels retain the factory look and the tires stay tucked neatly inside the fenders.

Check out @Arterius2 JL; he has 285/75R18 Duratracs on his Sahara.

This is what 285/75R18 tires look like on the OE Sahara wheels.

34" fit without need of a lift. For 35" you should get used Rubicon suspension (if going to do mild offroading),usually runs $150 shipped.

I've got the Diesel Sahara with the taller HD suspension. After consulting with TireRack, I installed AR105 TORQ-THRUST rims with 315/70R17 K02s load C tires. It rides smooth and no rubbing when flexed.

If you don’t want to go with a lift, 33s in the 275/70R18 size look good on the Sahara with 18 inch wheels. These are Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT tires on my Sport Altitude which comes with black Sahara wheels.

It has the Sahara shocks, brakes and wheels. Springs are still Sport S springs.
So about 0.75" lower then Sahara in height then. Reason why I was curious, your picture with 33.23" Coopers looks about the same wheel to flare spacing as my Sahara on 34.13" coopers.

We’re looking at this size tire for my wife’s new JLU. How much lift are you running? Stock wheels? Any spacers required? Any rubbing?
With Rubicon takeoff suspension (61/62, 90/91) it’s approximately stock Rubicon height up front after adding 3/4” Daystar spacers up to offset sag from the winch and bumper. 3/4” spacers out back. With the heavy spare (98 lbs), recovery boards mounted inside, Blackout kit … the rear also sagged after the tires were put on to where it is less than 1/4” higher than the front. So 1/4” or less of rake. I’m working on that now.

Stock Sahara upgrade wheels

Custom Bora 1” spacers all around. That’s as thin as you can go because the factory studs protrude .410” from the 1” spacer when mounted. The factory wheels have pockets that can accept as much as approximately .750” of protrusion by the factory studs. These big side biters rubbed on the lower control arms when the steering wheel was locked to the right or left before the spacers. Nothing now. The spacers were about $230.

I’ve not been off-road or disconnected yet. If there is any contact with the fender liners, it should be minor with the spacers on there.

There's essentially no difference between Sahara and Sport heights.
