So i have a JLU SAHARA, and i want to install 35” BFGoodrich KO2 A/T tires on them.

Wondering if anyone has installed these or similar on a JLU Sahara or if anyone has any recommendations?
Also wondering what the ideal wheel offset/backspacing would be required for these tires?

Greatly appreciate your help.

thanks!

I just installed 35” KO2s on my Sahara. I do have wheel spacers and a 2.5” lift as well. I haven’t change out wheels yet, but it is on my list. I still need to take it out to see if any rubbing occurs, but pretty sure it will be okay.

Oh wow she’s a beauty!

After looking at your pic i’m even more excited to get mine done. I think i will definitely have to put a lift, i’m thinking of the 2" by Mopar, and the Black Rhino wheels i’m looking at has an offset of -12, so i’m thinking i should be ok. My only concern is if there would be too much stress for the front axle...?

You’ll be fine with 35s. Do you plan to wheel it really hard? I’d guess not if you’re looking at the all terrain version, so you’ll be fine with the 35s. The -12 offset will stick out a bit more than stock (3 inches per side), but is the correct wheel for the wider tires. If you get the mopar lift, you may need an adjustable front track bar which is $150 to $200 additional cost. I have the mopar lift and am very happy with it.

As mentioned a 35's shod on wheels (17x8.5 to 17x9) with around 4.75" backspace to 4.5" backspace is a good fit with a 2 inches of lift.

Good looking Jeep, @Djmatt85!

Hey Jerry!

I'm building mine as an overland and not offroad.

I'm happy to hear that the offset won't be more then 3", i actually prefer that look especially from the front and rear. Appreciate the heads up on the track bar too, will definitely look into that!

Thanks for the input buddy, definitely helps!

May I suggest upgrading gears for 35" on the Sahara. May feel a bit sluggish depending on where you live.

Hey Mike! I live in a decent size city, but what would you recommend? Is it because of the weight of the tires??

May not go in to 8th as much but I don’t think you’ll find the need to justify $2000 to regear unless you’re extremely picky about the way your Jeep drives. Bfg’s are pretty light as well which will help.
Many are running stock 3.45 gears with 35s without complaint.
I’m running lighter 37s with 4.10s and do not plan to regear. It still drives and accelerates just fine. Tries to stay in 6th occasionally but can bump over to manual mode and put it in 7th at 70mph and 8th at 80 and it will hold them, the computer just thinks it wants 6th.

FWIW, I have the 6 speed manual and 3.45s with 35s. Going from 33” to 35” wasn’t a huge change (at least for me).I was a little concerned before making the switch, but after driving it around, I can’t justify the $2000+ gear change at this point. However, I do keep in 5th for the most part when on the freeway.

hey Jerry, i don’t know if i will have the same issues with my transmission as mine is automatic, but i have not heard of any types of issues so far... i guess once i install them and start driving around i will know for sure. But thanks for the input!!

2018 JLU Sahara... preceded by 2012 JKU Sahara, Multiple CJ's, TJ's even XJ, WJ & WK2... yup, Always loved my jeeps :)
Hey Bingy, its been a while - Really dig the bumpers you added. Front because it looks to have a skid that covers all your steering components... and rear that extends to cover that pinch seam on the rear quarter. What are the makes of each? Do you happen to have a photo that show how your skid connects to the lower frame?

17x9 with a +18 offset
