I have a bone-stock 2021 Rubicon Unlimited with 33” KO2’s. Nearing new tire time with 36k on them. Been happy, going same tire again.

However, I like the looks of 35” tires. Any issues going to them that I should be aware of? I have the 2.0T/8-speed and love the performance. And 4.10’s since it is a Rubicon.

Also, I am considering just buying four 35” and selling the 33” spare that has never been on the ground. Would then upgrade it to same 35” KO2.
With my luck, I’ll have a flat before I get a matching spare, lol! We do only very mild off roading, often just forest service roads.
All comments and suggestions appreciated!

Any advantages or disadvantages to either tire size I should know about?

If you off-road there will be some slight rubbing in the rear inner fender at full flex (nothing that will damage anything) but other than that, 35s run great on stock Rubicons. If you are lifting it in the near future I would skip the 35s and invest in 37s.

Cross shop 35x12.50s and 315/70 R17. Also may want to consider load rating. Couple different versions of the KO2s in that size, IIRC.

Would always recommend a spare, although 35s are pretty common, anything with oversized tires gets harder to immediately source if you have a blowout.

I’ve been running 35’s and also 37’s on my bone stock 2021 Rubicon for almost 50000km now. I’ll say that the 35’s are absolutely a great everyday size for a stock Rubicon JLU. As mentioned already the 35’s will just barely make fender contact at full stuff with the sway bar unlocked. And I can’t speak for those with steel bumpers but with my plastic rear bumper I had lots of clearance to run the 35” tire on the stock carrier. I didn’t even have to adjust my 3rd brake light up at all.

I went through this with my 22 Rubicon with 33" MT tires stock. I started off thinking I wanted 35's and a 1" lift. Then I started researching tire weights and load ratings. What I found was, you can totally use a lower weight 37" in lue or a normal weight 35". For example, Nitto and Toyo tires are super heavy vs BF's. So that opened a can of worms for me because 37's are close to 500 a peice. And require a lift. Which was another can of worms I did not want to open yet. I choose to keep my small 33" MT for now. But in your case. Maybe a 35" KM3 or KO2 would be best. If you do get 35's, I would suggest looking at the tires weight! Some of them can range up to 15lbs extra weight PER tire.

Anther option is to put a 3/4 Spacer lift on. I'm running a Daystar spacer F/R on mine with 315/70R17 KO2s. the change from 285 to 315 is about the same amount as the space, so it kept the opening at the same amount.
No noticeable loss in performance, but fuel mileage has suffered a bit.

here is my stock 2021 eco-diesel Rubicon, and stock suspension with 35s. I dint have any rubbing at full flex, but others do see a slight rub in rear at times. All my tolerances must have worked together to keep it clear, but ill take it.

I do agree with others, if you think you may lift and do go off-road I would consider 37s. If I was buying tires today I think it would be hard for me to go 35s over 37s. I would just have to work to find the min. lift I needed to make them fit with no rub.

What wheels are those polished 8 holes in the first pic with 35s? They look amazing.

Why do we have two threads on the same question from same poster?
Because I lost internet about the time I posted the first one. Just read one of them if it bothers you.

I intend to replace the spare, but will possibly have to order it separately, long story short, tire deal is running right now, and they “can’t” give me the same deal on five or some such…
