Going with BFG 285-75-17 MTRs on my new Rubi. Looks like they will fit the factory wheels. Do I need the tailgate reinforcement kit? These weigh 62 lbs, not sure what the weight of the factory tires are. Also wondering if I need the Mopar 2" lift for these. Thanks for your help!

I run that size on my JKU on stock wheels with a 2.5" lift, on the stock spare tire mount, I have had them for the last couple years and 40k miles no issues with fitment or with the carrier. I am running Toyo Open Country AT IIs, generally BFGs run smaller than other brands in the same sizes, my Toyo's are 33" tall. I would assume they would fit without any lift on a JL, not sure about the spare mount.

Have you installed the tires yet? Any pictures? That's the size I'm going for

No pics yet because on Jeep yet. Waiting on a 2 door Rubi to be built. Once I see it in person I'll make the call on the 2" lift. Can't wait!

My Rubi is already built waiting for inspection. I'm getting 285/75 KO2 34" tires no lift. Will post pictures.

Great comparison photo thanks for doing...I ran 285/75r17 KM2's on my '12 JKUR and loved it...even preferred the E rating and the stiffness it provided, felt invincible....I prefer the tall skinny look it's more military more early Jeep to me and just reminds me of safari vehicles and other overland rigs.....big fat tires not so much, think drag racing what have you....wish I could get a 35/11/r17, that would be great symetry....one guys opinion...

Nice. Dose the tailgate seam strong enough for the tire? This looks like the best set-up with the factory wheels and no lift. Thanks for posting.

I wish they would make this tire in 35" under 300mm wide. I'm still playing with pressure but I can definetly feed difference between stock C rated and this E rated 10-ply tire.

So how different is the ride going from load C to load E?

I sure thought I saw that the Rubicon tailgate was already capable of supporting up to the 35" tire...but I can't find it now.
