Thinking of doing 18” wheels with 305x70x18 tires.. these come out to 35.07 by 12.4... so they are the same width as the 35x12.5x17 everyone runs but actually run a little taller as most 35s are really 34.5”.. so you do give up about half an inch of wheel well but pick up some height.. has one run this size tire and pics or input?

Pricing for the Anza d556 wheels I like and stt pro tires is roughly the same so cost is not an issue

Well what are you hoping to accomplish by running an obscure tire and wheel size? Before you do something different, there should be a good reason for it I think. I cut 2 sidewalls on a trip to AZ and had to borrow a spare. Luckily every 4WP and off road shop will stock a 35-17 and 37-17 so I didnt have an issue getting back on my feet. But good luck finding a 305 70 18 in a pinch. And with an 18 you are giving up sidewall. Sounds like you just want to run a bigger tire, so get 37s, mounted and under the jeep they will be 35s.

Good point, or even out on a trail, if I had to grab a spare of a another rig to get home..

ya that is too think.. looks cray to me.. i briefly considered doing 35x11.5.17 on stock rims to save money.. nitto makes the trail grappler in that size
On my '14 JK I had 295/70R18 which were like a 34x12 give or take. But looks like I'll be staying stock on my new JLU since the PA State Police just issued a warning that anyone with tires extending past the fenders will be fined up to $100 and this includes inspection too. Before 1.5" past the fenders was ok for inspection. I had 315/70R17 on wheels with 4.99" backspacing on my '15 JK and the tires were 1.5" past the fenders.

to revisit this.. after 2 years of experience.. 37x12.5r17 that are light like the K02, Yoko g003, KM3, or Cooper STT PRO... in a C or D play.. is the way to go.. learn from my mistakes :)
