3.6L vs 2.0 turbo?? Pros and cons of both??

My 2018 JLU has the 2.0 turbo. It has the 8 speed and 3.45:1 gears. I'm getting 23.6 MPG at 4,700' altitude and have good mid-range torque. It only has 10k miles, I hate the push button starter, and love the basic cruise control. This is my 8th Jeep and my 3rd "CJ".

I know nothing about the hybrid part of the configuration (I'm old enough to know how to adjust valve lash with a feeler gauge), but it does launch off the line quickly.

The engine/drivetrain has a very long warranty.

It's a new unproven engine for the chassis, but it beats the V-6 in weight, HP, torque, fuel mileage and performance at high altitude - basically everything. If it breaks down, I'll have Jeep fix it.

Well you almost have most of that right except weight...

Have you been able to find the specs? I remember reading that the 2018 2.0s were heavier than the 2018 3.6s due to only the 2.0 having eTorque. Is the 2.0 still heavier if you compare a 2.0 ESS to 3.6 ESS?

He was talking about the 2018. Car & Driver's article on the 2018 mentions it is 55 lbs. heavier but doesn't break out if it includes etorque.

If that 55 does include the etorque, then the 2.0 would probably be about 25 lbs lighter since the etorque system is supposed to add about 80 lbs. However not sure if that 80 lbs. includes the battery, cooling etc.

That would be great if it was in fact lighter than the V6.

2018 only had the E torque with a four-cylinder. The battery weighs more than 55 pounds. So it should be a fair amount lighter than the V6 now.

i’ll throw my two cents on the 3.6 versus 2.0. I say 2.0 for the win! I’ve seen a few threads on here about bad V6‘S, but I can’t think of one on here about about 2.0. And the Torque on the 2.0 is really fun! Plus better fuel mileage. Win-win!

This is opinion, not truth. Not seeing wear related failures of any type yet.... All I know is that I’ve personally witnessed 3 relatively low mileage failures of the 3.6 in the jk.
no stone hard fact, not unique to Fiats.. obviously all Fiat Chrysler parts are sub part for the industry.

differnce the weight of engine is a non factor...

I have a 2020 Sahara JLU with the 3.6 e-torque. I have had if for about almost 8 months and put about 6500 miles on it, including a 1000-mile weekend roadtrip. I have absolutely no issues with it. It idles quietly, no problems with ESS -- though I do disable it pretty frequently, it accelerates smoothly, and runs very comfortably around town or out on the highway at 75+ mph. It feels like it has plenty of power, and I have never felt like the car that watches everyone else accelerate away from them.

People worried about and engine engine weight difference of 55lbs, and are sticking 5 37's and every accessory from the Quadratec catalog on their rig.

Good thing nobody makes aluminum bumpers & skid plates.
