Hello Guys,

Thanks for all your replies...

Update: the dealer was apparently right, the noise went away like 20 miles later and hasn't come back since, now am at 180 miles...

The noise started to happen less frequently until it stopped all together.

It could have been a sticky injector like a member here mentioned.

If it comes back I will update this thread.

Thanks!

I don’t think you understand how a dealership works. The finance dept is not going to eat into the available gross of a deal JUST because the customer is upset. The car has a warranty. It’s now the service depts problem. Dealers don’t need to bend over for no reason.
Yeah, there is no special warranty for the warranty to justify any freebies because something broke early.

Thanks for all the responses... will take it for a second opinion from a friend mechanic today and see whats up...

For those who have seen this issue, is the noise intermittent?

Thanks!
JC[/QUOTE That should of been caught when it was prepped and test drove the problem is a lot of dealers play dumb tell them buy back time and order another Jeep end of subject !

I would have the dealer stick some good injector cleaner in it, and do an oil change, just to be on the safe side.

Bought a 2019 JLU sport S manual 3.6 and when we got it home it was making a ticking sound at idle that you could really hear from the underside of the passenger door/wheel well but only when the engine was completely warmed up. Made an appointment and took it back to the dealer to look at it. 9 days later, they have found 3 scored rocker arms and are replacing all the rocker assemblys on the passenger side of the motor!! Brand new Jeep! I’m trying to figure out if this might be an oil related issue? What are the odds of 3 bad rockers being installed? We never took the motor over 4K rpms for “break in”. About 400 miles on the Jeep. Thank god we got a loaner, sounds like this may take a while...

Was your noise exactly like in the video?

My noise still hasn't come back and have great power and fuel economy.

Mine sounded very similar. Hard to say if it’s the same thing... when I took it in, I started reading threads like mad. I find it hard to believe that there were 3 bad rocker bearings... I kinda feel like the dealer is just gonna rebuild that head and hope that fixes the issue. I never had bad power, fuel economy was ok ;). Now I’m wondering if the motor isn’t oiling the cams properly? Supposed to have a call tomorrow about part orders ect... I’ll update after I talk to service.

Update: it’s been 6 days and the dealer has installed the new rockers, but the valve cover gasket was damaged out of the box causing another delay lol. Supposed to pick it up today so I’ll let you know what it sounds like.

Hey Grizzle32,

Was your dealer able to get everything taken care of? If not, please feel free to follow up with us via private message as we would be happy to provide an additional layer of assistance as you work with your dealer.

We picked the jeep up yesterday with a clean bill of health. It had three rocker arms replaced and that completely solved the ticking of the motor. Unfortunately when we got to the grocery store, a shopper alerted us that a jeep was smoking possibly on fire in the parking lot. There is coolant spraying and Exhaust fumes bellowing out of the hood. Needless to say we have returned it to the dealer hoping that they find the solution to the problem. We were very excited when the engine was not ticking and hope that this is an easy fix. Initially the dealer thought it was a ruptured valve gasket, but we’re waiting to see what the actual problem was. I’ll update you with more information as we get it.

This is outrageous. I commend you for your seemingly positive attitude, I'd be beside myself.

Picked up the Jeep a couple days ago with another new valve cover gasket installed and so far so good!! Chrysler reached out and helped through the process. Currently working on an extended warranty with them hopefully for free. Hopefully this is the end of our pentastar problems!

Hi guys...

Just got a 2019 Sahara, build date May 19.

Its making this loud ticking noise that comes and goes... What could it be or is it normal?

You can clearly hear it in the video.

Thanks!
JC

my Jeep doesn't sound that smooth either , have a listen

Yeah I think that’s worth having a look at... after the dealer replaced all the rockers on my left head, all the “knock” noise went away completely. The motor sounds totally smooth and “normal”.
