I had a Bronco II with a body lift on 33s and it usually made it, just skimming along, but not always.
What always got me in the XJ were the open diffs rather than the mud. A few powerline trails in the boonies late at night (because of course that's a good idea) and I'd always find somewhere that'd get me crossed up and hitting front and rear bumpers so I couldn't back up. Throttle was the answer then too. That XJ was on like stock size 28s or whatever though, didn't take much to get it out of its depth.

Try this: hold foot on gas + brake and press start button. Engine will turn over but not start, and as long as you keep both pedals pushed down, it'll run the starter for 10 seconds. This will prime oil pressure, and if it's the tensioner, may pump it up so it won't rattle or will reduce the rattle when you start it. If it's not the tensioner you'll still have the rattle when you start it normally.
Are you dispensing tech?!!?!?!?!?

We're at the point in this thread where you just have to let the thread go. It's a kids echo chamber now. They'll spend the rest of their time here reassuring each other that what they think and have is best.

BTW I used 0w-20 and 87 on my 3.6's too. It's fine. But once this gang gets together here, there's no point in continuing.
