What always got me in the XJ were the open diffs rather than the mud. A few powerline trails in the boonies late at night (because of course that's a good idea) and I'd always find somewhere that'd get me crossed up and hitting front and rear bumpers so I couldn't back up. Throttle was the answer then too. That XJ was on like stock size 28s or whatever though, didn't take much to get it out of its depth.I had a Bronco II with a body lift on 33s and it usually made it, just skimming along, but not always.
