Not too many miles here yet, but out 2018 Sahara and 2021 Rubicon both run 87 with no problems.

I bought 92 for the first 500 but didn't notice any difference when I started the 87.

I'm guessing that the Amsoil guy has also picked up a Lucas oil franchise. :like:

With the quality control issues FCA is famous for, I have no doubt the Petey’s engine needs 89+ octane where as most need only 87.

Must be a problem with the newer engines because my 18 with 53,000 miles runs like a scalded cat and I literally put the cheapest crap in it I can buy!
Maybe I do get questionable gas and should change stations but i've bought from others in my travels, always the low octane, results were the same. Just drove again while ago and to me theres improvement however I still hear an almost inaudible pinging a low rpms.( have to have window open and listen up close) If u were to run ac or closed windows one would definitely not hear this. This happens on many makes not just Jeeps. My honda used to do this.. The solution was backing timing off or add the mystery oil in the tank either worked. It's a really scary sound when u hear rod bearing smacking journals from under the hood.

during summer 87 and a hill you get pings. otherwise its fine. high compression engine, its gonna be sensitive, not ideal for an offroad vehicle, but its a Fiat.

Mines pings like a mf’er with 87 so yeah I use 91
Same here. 89 is ok for light duty stuff, but 91 for higher effort trips. 87 is right out.

Ok, I've read enough of the 87 octane threads to come up with a wild theory. What elevator you guys at? I'm at sea level and on cold mornings, 30f or below, my 3.6 sounds bad. So in the winter I run higher octane and its running fine. But when I have visited family at +4,000 ft it doesn't seem to matter. Could there be a point where it's just getting too much air for the VVT to adjust? Would seem to explain why people seem to be getting different results with 87.

Most of the time I run 87 from Bj's, when it gets real cold or hot, I mix 87 and 93 half and half= 90
