Very interested to see how stock vs lifted on a diesel affect mpg. Hoping someone posts up some data here!

AFAIK, no one has a lifted 3.0 on 37s yet. @JLDIESEL is going to 40s IIRC. I’ll have some cold weather data on 35s with a direct comparison to the 3.6 fairly soon, with the lift/37s data in the spring.

I’ll be doing 38s, but need to get the Jeep first! Probably the month after it’s delivered I’ll have it lifted and on 38s.
I’m guessing by mid summer there will be plenty of data

I can wait, I am used to it with this gladiator.

Ok I can provide some data but it will take some time to do it at the current set up we are all stock the data I’ll have is a trip from north Fort Worth to Hot Springs Arkansa on Friday and on return trip Sunday but here’s the deal it will be pulling our little T@B 320 Boondock RV at about 2000lbs. After that it will be driven for the next 5 days to and from work so that I can track as well. After that it’s parked in my shop for tare down for EJS will be 38s Bead locks and all the fun stuff that goes with a build. I can again record mileage then it gets 4.56 gears and again I’ll report back if y’all really want some numbers. PS here’s our Jeep and we love it it won’t let me upload ‍♂

So pulling 1900lbs to Arkansas and back we put around 800 miles on our Jeep towing and mileage sux hand calculated 11.8 mpg’s I didn’t buy it for mileage I bought it for the torque and it used half a tank of DEF fluid so you we will not get 10,000 miles per tank like they said

I’ll have some data shortly. I go in for the 37’s on Wednesday, but will be out of the country until the following Monday

That’s going to be painful having to leave the country with that rig begging to be run on 37s. You and I will be in a similar boat end of this week into next with mine sitting in a shop getting ppf rather than putting its first miles on it.

@Buttercup 3.0 Thank you for posting results. I’m sure many will benefit from references like this and I hope more keep posting results. PS I’m a little jelly and can’t wait to get mine!

Tell me about it. I have a garage full of parts I would rather be putting on ole girl rather than be traveling...let me know how the PPF turns out.

@Buttercup 3.0 you said you were doing about 80Mph... what RPMs do you turn at that speed? I've never had a 3.0, but in my past diesels, I've found over 2k RPMs, miles take a huge dive.. could be more related to wind resistance at the higher speed too though.

From prior experience, I'm betting that after a lot of these hit Fuelly.com and there's enough data to pull from, the average will settle in somewhere around 24 MPG.

24 MPG isn't bad at all, but since diesel costs more it'll basically break even vs. the Pentastar engine in cost.

Also, the higher the MPG an engine achieves the more sensitive it becomes to change, so the guy who posted his results after towing a trailer above ^^ is going to be pretty typical results with a trailer hooked onto the Jeep OR with 38" tires and a lift on the Jeep. It's going to drive better than the Pentastar due to the large difference in torque output, but it's also going to lose a larger % of it's fuel efficiency than the Pentastar with more load against the engine.
