I get all kinds of looks at the diesel pump at the local truck stop, but when I pull up and put DPF in they get really confused.

I have had a few tell me “you know these are diesel pumps right?” And I say yep, it is cheaper than 91 octane!” Then drive away!
Lol. That happens to me a lot. Or wow I didn't know jeeps had a diesel.

It’s cold here in TX. -2 with a wind chill of -12 when I got up. He won’t crank. Never owned a diesel vehicle before. Any help? Open carport. Not a garage.
just as an FYI all the 3.0 blocks have a block heater. The xtra charge is for the cord. Auto parts stores do sell the cord if you want to remove the cap and plug it in. On the sister jeepgladiatorforum sight you can find the part number and see where the plug is. It’s on the passenger side behind the shock tower.

I understand ALL our Eco Diesels came equipped with block heaters...but ONLY IF you ordered a block heater on your build sheet, it came with a cord. Supposedly you can go to the dealer and purchase the cord and connect it to the already installed heater...It's also suppose to be a MoFo to get to though.

Search around here, there was a thread about that a while back.
My ‘21 doesn’t have a block heater. Specifically asked about the cord at my dealer after reading a couple threads where this was mentioned and they said if you don’t order a block heater it doesn’t come with one and it’s not for the cord only. Not satisfied, I went to another dealership and asked. Their words exactly “we’re happy to sell you the cord but won’t do you much good without the heater”. And also offered to order and install a block heater, which I declined. I also scoured the engine bay looking for the cap where you would plug in and just as they both said, it’s not there.

Well, there you go...no block heater in a 2021. Sometimes it really pays it scour the option sheet before placing your order or the "buy what's sitting on the lot" because you just can't wait to get your new Jeep.

If you will at some point need a block heater, it sux to be you. NAH...I live in Texas, I don't need no frigg'n block heater...Famous last words.

I'm still skeptical. This has always been the case with diesel pickups.

Assuming this is still the same or similar to the 3rd gen 3.0L, it looks pretty easy to determine if it's there. Also probably wouldn't be the end of the world to order this element and get it in there. Not a job every shade tree would love to tackle though. Depending on how much stuff is in the way.

JMO, but if it doesn't get below zero where you are (or where you travel to), I would not worry about the block heater. These 3.0's heat up fast, and 5w40 has no issues until what, -20 degree's? And by issues I mean extra wear on the engine. With a properly charged battery I would fully expect to have no issues starting our 3.0L in -20 degree weather.
