that's about what i got too.

i also found reference to a few other things getting started, but nothing actually going through.

From what I can tell it's the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act, passed in 1966, that makes it illegal to sell a new vehicle with an active safety recall.

I haven't seen anything about fines.

Maybe it doesn't happen often.

40k fine for selling 2 cars several years ago.

Then there is a couple of them here from NHTSA and the US Code

cool; nice Google-Fu!

looks like it really doesn't happen often at the dealership level. (note the article shared was from an event almost 10 years ago.)
but it did lead me to a NHTSA website that listed the actual fines collected; there's a few for dealerships selling unremedied recalled vehicles, but not a lot, and not often. (it's not clear how many other fines may have been assessed but not collected.)

Yeah it doesn't seem to be something they actively investigate often, I bet it happens more often when a consumer complains.

How do you like the tune? Did you opt for the spare PCM?
I have had my GDE tune for about 6 months and I did get the spare PCM. So far, no problems, no fuel savings, but way more fun to drive. I would do it again.

That's awesome! I am considering doing the same (with the spare PCM), but figured I should wait for the fuel pump BS to sort itself out first. what was the total cost if you don't mind?

I believe it was $1500 or 1600. whatever it was, it was exactly what the guy quoted me. I had them install it. 20 minutes.

I got my 2023 recall I’m the mail today. So they can sell vehicles that they KNOW will be recalled, but the consumer can’t re-sell them?

that’s dirty pool, there.

I'm pretty sure the restrictions are just on new vehicles.

Here is what's dirty about what happened. I bought my Rubi in April. Received my notification two days ago. They KNEW these Jeeps had the same bad pumps way before April, but they likely held off on the recall until dealer inventory was down to an acceptable level.

I guess I should also mention that I'm still glad I had the opportunity to buy mine before they froze sales. I got a Farout with everything but the steel bumper group for 10% under sticker.

They knew the pumps were crap even before they build the Gen 3 diesels. Ford, Ram and GM all had problems with the pump years ago. At the time, I’m guessing, there was no other option besides the CP3 and those didn’t produce high enough rail pressures. The new CP3’s do, so they must have modified the internals to survive the higher pressures.

Yep would not keep me from buying it, especially with the small chance of failure and it being a fixable issue if it does go. Great engine couldn't imagine going back to the gas engines.
