Hey all,

At long last, my '21 JLU Willys edition is ready for pick up this weekend.
This forum has been amazing with helping me learn beforehand what to expect, and what to look for on delivery.

My first planned mods involved the bumpers. I want to get a steel set, and I was actually looking at several different setups before I took into consideration the difference in weight distribution.

The goal is a steel front, with space for a winch and a brush guard, and a steel rear with a tire carrier. Is there anything I should be considering about fit/finish/weight distro with the 3.0 power plant?

Any pics from happy diesel 2021 people who swapped out for steel bumpers?

Thanks in advance...

I swapped the factory plastic front for the factory steel front, then added the warn winch mount, zeon 10S, BD Squadron Pro fogs, BD LP9 Pros, and Maximus 3 tow loop, the last of which required some work with an angle grinder. It weighs probably 160-170lbs all-in, plus the added 250-300 of the diesel on the front axle...had to add 1/2” spacers to 3” lift synergy springs to get 2.5” total lift with all the added weight. Still waiting on AEV to sell me their damn rear bumper and carrier...would have jumped ship on them months ago had another company come up with a better rear setup for my use-case but alas, no one has. That will add another couple hundred pounds to the back end plus the couple hundred from the diesel emissions equipment weight on the rear axle.

I ended up swaping both ends with Rugged Ridge HD units. Had to manufacture a tag mount, but no other problems. Installed a Badland 12k winch. Added a lot of weight, but didn't notice a difference in the ride height.

ditch the plastic bumpers. I went spyder.

this is after the lift.
This is an awesome setup! I love the tire carrier/bumper combo. Definitely added to the list.

how easy would it be to swap this from full width to stubby?
