Strange. I've been thinking about maybe getting the 285 70s for my Sport...but at least in those pics it doesnt look Much different than OEM 245 75s.

The 285 are 1.25" wider in diameter.

On pictures not that much difference.. I just change tyre size, cause the General Grabber AT3 aren't made in 255/75R17... Those EU stock size is more than okay for my needs... BFG KO2 isn't that good in very cold and snowy conditions. The AT3 will perform much better there.

And here in Germany, the 285/70R17 AT3 are way cheeper than 255/75R17 KO2 at the moment.

I just want to change to steel rims, due to I need to use snow chains in northern Norway on our winter trip.

And my Rubicon wheels will get hurt by them.

Truthfully, I prefer the steel Sport wheels anyway. Look more "Jeepish" to me.

My only problem is.. the steel wheels are rare to find here in Germany.. for what they will cost me new. I could go with a set of Icon Wheels.

Do they sell the Sport in Germany? Seems as if someone would swap for your Rubicon wheels.

Can you find other steel wheels there with the same or similar specifications?

How about obtaining them through eBay or Amazon? They are generally unwanted here. The price to buy plus shipping would probably still be considerably less that purchasing through an authorized Jeep dealer.

Doesn’t Jeep recommend using cables instead of chains?

Good question. Will look for am answer in service library
At least in my COC document they say 245/75R17 in Rubicon alloy wheels may be used with snow chains. 255/75R17 are Not allowed to
