I have not found many threads about 34" (285/75r17) tire fitment on a stock JLUR and was wondering if anybody here has experience on- and off-road with such set-up.
I currently run stock suspensions and wheels/tires on a 2018 JLUR (pic below, white jeep), which i use 75% on-road / 25% off-road. Given my usage, i want to stick to all-terrain or hybrid tires, possibly C load rating. It is time to replace my 285/70r17 BFG KO2's, which i was very happy with, and was thinking of trying something new: the Nitto Ridge Grappler.

From the Nitto website, i see that the Ridge Grappler is available in both 285/70r17 and 285/75r17 sizes, both with a C load rating (snapshot below). If the 285/75r17 fits the JLUR without any interference or rubbing at full flex, i like the idea of gaining a 1" of clearance. Any thoughts on this?

Any other recommendations on pros/cons of 285/75r17 vs 285/70r17 on a JLUR stock set up? From the Nitto table, the two tires look almost identical, except for the height of course and for the weight which might worsen the gas milage a bit...but that does not worry me.

Interested. Just to be that annoying math guy. You'll only gain 1/2" of clearance. Clearance delta = (diameter increase)/2.

Check out the Toyo A/T III s in 285/75/17. The LR C ones are 59lbs they are a solid inch taller than most 285/70/17s.
Not the best picture but this is a Toyo 285/75/17 next to a Falken 285/70/17 both mounted on Jeep 7.5” rims The yellow thing on top is a wiffle bat.

Yeah, i saw them on-line. They look pretty good. But regardless of the brand, do you know if the 285/75r17 work flawlessly (i.e. no modifications needed) in a stock JLUR on- and off-road at full flex/articulation?

Hey man, sorry to stir up an old thread, but I have the exact same question! Did you ever go with the 285/75r17’s you mentioned? I’m also looking at the Nitto Ridge Grapplers in that size (Load C).

Just wondering if you (or anyone else that has run this size on a stock rubicon setup) had any issues AT ALL with rubbing on or off road.

thanks!

Did you ever go with 285/75/17 rubber on stock Ruby suspension?

It's a great tire and that combo on a stock JL. Not too wide for the wheel and there is a lot of room in the wheel well. I ran them on mt 09 JK on stock rims but with a JK you need 1.5" spacers and leveling kit.
