Was your trip there slightly downhill. I’m impressed at hitting over 27mpg.
Seattle to Portland is mostly flat.. maybe a quarter of the way is slightly downhill. I was impressed with the fuel economy too.

Your speedo is off now so you probably didn’t lose but maybe 1 mpg. As soon as your speedo is fixed so will the MPG. That’s a pretty tall tire.

Mounted the spare tire today. Fit perfect, no rubbing on the bumper. Rear door open/closes as normal. Really happy because this is pretty close to a 34" tire. Adjusted the rear brake light up one notch. (You can only adjust it up one notch and have to lose two screws rather than 4) But it holds just fine with 2. Probably even could of gotten away with leaving brake light at original height. Parked next to a JL Sahara today.

Stock 2018 JL Sport S.
285/75/R17 BF Goodrich All Terrain KO2 on stock wheels with no spacers. NOTE: These are 285/75/R17.

Discount tire only had 4 in stock, 5th tire is on route.

Tires clear, no rubbing on full lock when driving. Doesnt hit the frame, nor the plastics.. even with the ugly euro splash guard/bumper cover and air dam. Doesn't rub whatsoever on normal driving conditions. Haven't taken her off road yet, but will soon and will post updates. Will install a lift soon but with current stock height. No rubbing issues at all. Definitely sits higher than stock. Didn't measure for myself. However these tires have a little more than 2inches diameter increase compared to stock.

Other additions are Rough Country nerf bar side steps, plasti-dipped front tow hooks.

Drives smooth, can't feel a difference in power. Braking does feel slightly different as im pushing on it slightly harder. SLIGHTLY. But its barely a difference and not enough for concern.

Drove it 50+ miles on hwy, and maybe averaged 1 miles less per galon.. if that.. i drive 60 mph like a grandma with a very light foot.

Gone over speed bumps and a curb just for fun.. no rubbing on fenders.. still plenty of room.

Are these tires on stock rims (17s) and no lift?

Yes. Stock rims, no lift.
Wow, that’s awesome. About what size do the tires measure (inches)? Also stock fenders? Stock gears? No issues still with rubbing or rough on gears and engine?

They're real close to a 34" tire. 33.8" to be exact. Stock fenders. No rub, even on full lock. Stock gears. Not rough on the gear. Drives great. Engine doesn't feel overworked. Only noticeable difference is braking requires slightly more effort, but not enough for concern. Overall she still drives like stock. Driven over 1000 miles with current set up without issue. Will be putting a 2.5 lift down the road, but in no hurry. Also picking up a pair of spidertrax wheel spacers, to get a slightly wider stance. Will post pics when complete.

Put the stock tire next to the 285s for size comparison. Also painted rear tow hook red.

@Dangitbilly Did you ever test this set up out while flexing at turn lock? If so, I'd like to hear your report.

Hi, didnt get the greatest pictures but tested with flexing at full lock at various heights.no rubbing, just cleared with a finger's width between tire and plastics. Got the rear tire tucked in, and suprisingly cleared as well. No rubbing, i had no issues with tires rubbing on anything on the inside components such as frame, shocks etc.. no issue there, but if i had spacers the tires would probably rub on the exterior fenders because we're talking as close as you can get before tires made contact with the plastics. So far it all cleared so im pretty happy.

Looks great! I've been trying to decide between just a tire upgrade, or wheels and tires. The stock tires on the Sport S are just too tame looking for me. This is great ammo for my debate! Now if I could only get the 17s from the JL onto the 16s on my XTerra (which badly needs tires) I'd have it made!

Removed the bumper euro splash guards to show off the tires. Happy with the look. Also edited the lighting in the photo to better show the new tire size difference.

What did you paint your tow hooks with and did you take anything off to do it? Looks good.

I also want to add, on the trip back, i did add a 100 pound girlfriend in the car with me on the trip home to Seattle, was picking her up in portland.. not sure if the 100 pound difference made that much of an impact on MPG, But still wanted to mention it :)
Unless you calibrated your speedometer that would affect your mpg numbers because you are driving farther than your odometer shows with the taller tires.

Didnt take anything off, masked it with tape around the plastics and newspapers. Just cleaned them lightly with a damp towel, let it dry, hit it with 6 coats of red plastidip.. waited 20-25 minutes between coats, first few coats didnt stick well.. so i went light, then heavy on coats 4,5 & 6. Then one coat of glossifier.
