New to the forum and JLU club (January 2019). Based off of info and incentives in this post I have added Nitto Grapplers (285/75 17) to my Sport on 17" XD Monster II's (-12 offset). They look great but I'm getting a little rubbing at 3/4 articulation in the front up against the euro fenders. By all the pics here it looks like most of you have taken them off (if Sport) or have lifts/Rubicons where it wouldn't be an issue. Correct?

285/75/R17 BF Goodrich All Terrain KO2 on stock wheels with no spacers. NOTE: These are 285/75/R17.

Discount tire only had 4 in stock, 5th tire is on route.

Tires clear, no rubbing on full lock when driving. Doesnt hit the frame, nor the plastics.. even with the ugly euro splash guard/bumper cover and air dam. Doesn't rub whatsoever on normal driving conditions. Haven't taken her off road yet, but will soon and will post updates. Will install a lift soon but with current stock height. No rubbing issues at all. Definitely sits higher than stock. Didn't measure for myself. However these tires have a little more than 2inches diameter increase compared to stock.

Other additions are Rough Country nerf bar side steps, plasti-dipped front tow hooks.

Drives smooth, can't feel a difference in power. Braking does feel slightly different as im pushing on it slightly harder. SLIGHTLY. But its barely a difference and not enough for concern.

Drove it 50+ miles on hwy, and maybe averaged 1 miles less per galon.. if that.. i drive 60 mph like a grandma with a very light foot.

Gone over speed bumps and a curb just for fun.. no rubbing on fenders.. still plenty of room.

Did you purchase the anti spin rear differential package with your JL? Just wondering if you’re running Dana 33s or 44s with your 35inch tires as I’m looking into them for my sport

Brand new to the Jeep community and just got mine on Black Friday. I appreciate all the knowledge that people share in here and it made me pull the trigger on 285/75r17s! Nodding my Jeep is so fun! Thanks!

Went with Helo wheels and Falken tires...black looks so much better than aluminum

Did you have to relocate the spare?

Had 285/75/17 Toyo Open Country AT2s installed today. Got an awesome price so couldn't pass them up. SMALL amount of road noise just like the exact same tires I had on my 14 Silverado. 1-5/8" Synergy wheel spacers are in the mail along with the rough country spare tire relocation bracket. I plan to plasti dip these stock wheels since they pretty much have no resale value. First pic should be the before pic.

Hello all! First post here on the JL forum and I really have enjoyed reading this thread. I have a question for those who have put on the 285/75/17 tires on the Sports S model. Can you you give me some feedback on highway driving and the automatic transmission going into 8th gear? I appreciate any feedback as I think I am about to pull the trigger on this tire size. thanks!

Hwy driving isn't much different than stock. Maybe a loss of 1 or 2 mpg if that.. but very similar to stock. I see 8th gear just fine with the automatic and 285/75. My only recommendation would be go with a load range C if you can find it. Much softer and a more comfortable ride. The load range E is much stiffer than stock, so you'll feel the bumps in the road more. The wrangler doesn't need that high of an index rating.

I just put on a set of Nitto ridge grabbler 285/75r17 with stock rims, C load. Super smooth and quiet at around 36-37 psi. I don't see myself putting it in 6th gear anymore unless I'm doing 75 mph or more. Lost 2 mpg. But the look and off-road performance of those tires are fantastic when compared to OEMs.

Got new tires and rock sliders on Friday and hit the trials on Sunday lol

Hey do you think Nitto 35s would fix with a stock rim, without wheel spacer. I’m going with a 2 1/2 lift.

My understanding is you're going to need spacers or different wheel to fit 35's on a Sport.

It'll fit, but with probably a little rubbing at full lock or when making tight turns.

Bfg ko2s 35s will fit because they run smaller than most other manufacturers.. and plenty have ran them without rubbing and no spacers... however Nittos run wide and larger than BFG.. so chances are you'll rub a little when turning..

Thinking about ordering these 285/75/17 today. Has anyone used a Tazer or Superchip to adjust the tire size after install? Did you notice a difference in performance? I’ve heard people having issues with gearing after putting on big tires and not recalibrating. Also, has anyone seen a comparison of these to the 285/70/17? Those probably won’t look as cool but will likely weigh less and calibration may not be as necessary?
