Sorry in advance if it’s been posted before I have searched the forum with no luck.
Not looking to go big just looking for a good all terrain. I’m installing a JLUR takeoff suspension and want to stick with my steel wheels. Budget build that will see lots of off road miles.

Just concerned about rubbing with the stock wheel.
You won't rub with 285/70/17
This is the size of stock Rubicon tires.
Many people put rubicon take off wheels/tires on their sport/sahara without any issues.

You will need to re-calibrate with a programmer for the bigger tire size however.

This was my thinking. I did not want to effect my overall gear ratio and drive-ability too much by going to oversize tires. Especially since I haul a small travel trailer at times. I settled on 255/75-17. They are a touch bigger than the stock tire, running just over 32", but not so big as to need the computer set for a larger tire.

I put on a Rubicon suspension that gave me 1.25" lift in the front and 2" in the rear then bought Falken MT01 LT255/75-17 tires. I'm very satisfied by how my Jeep turned out and for what I do it's perfect.

your Jeep looks good on the 255’s. I was leaning towards 265’s but now I’m not so sure.

How off was your speedometer? And what was your new MPG?

Evidently Jeep didn't have mine dialed in perfectly from the factory. The speedometer always read about 1 mph high with the stock tires. After installing the 255/75 tires it was right on.

This was comparing the speedo to a stand alone GPS.

OI went with 255/75's also and mine was either set up a little optimistic from the factory or it didn't change. My MPG's didn't drop much either but from past experince the wider tires seem to hurt MPG's more.

My Sport S has always said I’m going 1 mph faster than I actually am with the stock 245/75 r17. When I hooked up my Tazer the tire size in the program was set up for 255/75 r17. I’m guessing that’s because of the Willys and only wanting 1 set of programming for all sport models. 255/75 r17 is the stock size for the Willys.

If you want to stick with 32” but want a little more width a 275/70 r17 is 32.2”.
