Has anyone had issues with the 4WD slipping into Neutral while driving? Thinking it's a bad transfer case or something. The first time I used my 4WD it slipped into 2WD while driving. I thought maybe I didn't click it in good enough. Now I'm having a hell of a time keeping it in 4WD and having a harder time even shifting the damn thing at all! It's crazy. Had my BF drive it and try it out and it did the same thing to him. It is terrifying because when it's in neutral, I have to actually stop the Jeep and shift it back. These snowy PA weather conditions don't create situations where I can pull off the road. I was stranded the other day in the middle of the road unable to shift it at all.

I had a '22 Wrangler with no issues whatsoever. This isn't the first problem I've had with this one. Worried that I have a lemon.

If you’re sure you’re getting it “In” to 4 H it should NOT be coming out on its own. New TC’s can be and usually ARE stiff as heck. Once broken in it should shift easily on the fly. Going into neutral makes me think perhaps you’re pulling it too far down (should be straight back to 4 H-if you’re pushing it to the right while making your shift you “may” be placing it between 4H and Neutral which could result in the condition you describe. If you shift carefully and the problem persists it needs to go in to the shop

I’d say it’s a Jeep thing for some to pop back into N from 4L especially heading up an incline.

I tell folks to hold onto the transfer case stick for a few feet once they get going again.

Personal experience is two ‘21 Rubicons with the part time transfer case. YMMV.

I noticed this once last week where it popped back to 2H on me. Happened maybe a minute after switching to 4H and it was the first time I really pushed it since switching. But I just assumed I didn't get it all the way into 4H and just switched it back again. Haven't had any problems since.

But since then I make sure I'm fully in neutral (clutch fully engaged and stick center) and the engine revs have dropped to idle before switching between 2H and 4H. Still rolling though. Then I wait a second or two before going again. That's probably not needed, but it's what I do now.

Jeep dealer found a "bulletin" on this issue. Guess it's not a recall, yet. The bolt and cable needed adjusted. I'm hoping this fixes the issue!
