Any info would be appreciated.

I have a 2025 JLUR with the 2.0T engine and when cold started, it

a) stumbles and misses
b) sounds like a can of change rattling around

All of this goes away when the engine warms up to full operating temperature. Is this normal?

This is my first Jeep and I have just 1000 miles on it so sorry if this is a rudimentary question - I did search and did not find anything.

Thanks in advance for the help.

It’s hard to tell without you sending a video or clip of the sound. However, based on history, I would say with this particular engine your chances are high that it’s “normal”

Immediately after a cold start, the 2.0T does sound mechanically busy, so to speak. That might address item b. If that's all that was occurring, I'd say you're fine.

However, a healthy engine shouldn't ever stumble and/or miss, no matter its age, etc. That's worth a look by the dealer's Svc Dept. Keep us posted on what you learn here.

How are your coolant levels? Have you had to add coolant? There is a Factory TSB out on rough-idle cold start which involves coolant getting into the combustion chamber and causing this. The engine will run normally after it warms up, and the coolant burns off. The TSB applies to 2024 MY engine block castings, but a head gasket leak could also contribute to this behavior.

Great info PunksJL - I have not noticed any drop in coolant but will mark level on the tank with a sharpie and keep an eye on it. Thank You for the info - good stuff.
