I feel the need for some speed!Mike, some non-Jeep trivia for you. A super Hornet leaving the deck of the USS Nimitz goes from 0-140 in 2 seconds. When landing the Hornet goes from 165 to 0 in 2-3 seconds. Now that is a ride.
When my brother was in the Navy he got the chance to take a catapult ride and landing. Was in some bigger type plane but he said you really get your ass kicked around big time.Mike, some non-Jeep trivia for you. I don't think I could handle those gforces.Mike, some non-Jeep trivia for you. A super Hornet leaving the deck of the USS Nimitz goes from 0-140 in 2 seconds. When landing the Hornet goes from 165 to 0 in 2-3 seconds. Now that is a ride.

Honesty time! I get all choked up at the opening scenes of Top Gun! Makes me so damn proud! Also brings back memories of my brother. He is missed. Sorry, had to share.I feel the need for some speed!

If I had gone the Navy route I would have been one of those carrier dudes. Not a pilot but one of the yellow shirted guys running around on the flight deck.
Navy Officer School was the backup plan if I couldn't get a job after grad school. Luckily, I got one.I feel the need for some speed!

But the Navy doesn't do much in the way of designing stuff...unless it's in hostile territory.
We are lucky to have those dogs in our lives.Awww.... I get it because I had my beloved Chuck. He was my baby. I still mourn him, which sounds silly but, he was my boy. I had him since birth. I saved him when he was born blue, cold, and not breathing 4 hours after the others. I gave him mouth-to-mouth and rubbed him until he started moving. It took three days for him to recover. So, I get it

I always say that I likely would have followed a slightly different path if there had been a recruiter in that theater lobby in 1986.Honesty time! Going the officer route in the Navy does open up a lot of career paths in R&D if you got one of the more technical careers there, but that all depends on your schooling.Navy Officer School was the backup plan if I couldn't get a job after grad school. Luckily, I got one.
Nothing against all those who served - both of my grandfathers served in Korea. But the Navy doesn't do much in the way of designing stuff...unless it's in hostile territory.
That, and after 7 years of college, the thought of MORE school was completely unappealing.![]()
The Arleigh Burkes are good ships unless you want to actually shoot the 5" Gun....More along your line, you might like to check out the USS Gravely. The new class of Destroyer. Those ships are awesome.
