Hi Folks,
My first post on this forum and first question. I just purchased a 2024 JL Sahara. Black with the standard silver trim around the headlight buckets, grill openings and, driving lights in the bumper. I thought the vehicle would look better with just black up front. After looking at a few videos, it didn't seem to be a big deal to pop the grill off (even with the front camera) and try Plasti-Dip since it is supposed to be reversable. The videos I watched showed a fairly straight forward process of removing the grill and then removing the grill inserts and then the trim pieces. I guess I didn't realize that Jeep had made such a dramatic change in the grill from '23 to '24. Once I disconnected the camera and washer (reattaching is the subject for another post!), I realized that this is a completely different animal! I could see how the parts could have come apart but, for the life of me, I could not figure out how those parts came apart without a major effort. So being the lazy bum I am, I thought I'll just mask off the grill and "paint" the silver parts and peel off the overspray around the grill. Long story short, I spent a few hours masking, painting and removing the masking tape. I then spent a few hours cleaning the mess up as the Plasti-Dip got into every nook and cranny (which is by the way everywhere). This morning I searched and was unable to find any information as to how to take the bits apart. Has anyone found a source (video or description) on how to disassemble the whole assembly?
Thanks, Dan

Bump for help and advise! I realize that the obvious option is to just replace the grill but, I just can't believe that the grill is not able to be dismantled. Maybe the upgraded grill is so new that no one has been able to figure out the process how to disassemble? TIA

To be honest, there aren't a lot of people out there with 2024s yet. Just buy the Mopar satin black grille and be done with it. Then sell yours online to someone who wants a 2024 grille on their older JL.

Thanks, I've looked into that option but, apparently will have to wait until the supply chain reestablishes a consistent supply of parts. The outcome of the strike will surly have an interesting effect on the prices in the automotive industry.

Thanks , I decided to try some overlays first. I saw the overlays first posted on another thread available from Amazon.
They should arrive tomorrow and cost about $70 for headlight buckets and grills. I’ll post my impressions once I try them out.

I JUST did this myself... I bought a used 2024 Sahara grill, wanted to black it out. figured, 'how difficult could it be?'.... well, it was a lot more work than I planned. lots of clips, snaps, etc... it took me 2.5 hours of trial and error. I got it done and didn't break anything! now that ive done it once, I know where the hard parts are... all I can advise is just take your time.
