My Sahara came with carpet mats, going to swap them out. 99% of the floor mats I am seeing have no drain hole/plug area. My wife's jeep came with rubber mats and drain hole/plugs.

I saw, and screw me for not bookmarking, a set of mats that had not only drain holes, but actual 1/2" (guess) channels that slide into the car floor.

So before I purchase anything, are mats with drain holes just not a thing, not recommended, not preferred?

Factory Mopar floor mats and knockoffs have the drain hole in the mat. I have not seen any others that do.

I had the Mopar mats and replaced them with the Weathertech ones because they offer more floorboard coverage.

Personally I like the Weather Tech mats. A quality product and a US company. My 2022 Rubicon 4 door had carpeted mats and I put in a set of Weather Tech premium mats as soon as I could get them. I just bought a black entry mat at Home Depot for the rear cargo area which was relatively inexpensive and if I think I may carry something in the back that’s messy, I just cover it with a blue tarp. I recently bought a pre-owned 2021 Willys 2 door to have for winter use. It had the Jeep floor liners and they are OK. The plug was out (I don’t know if that’s how the come or something the previous owner did) so anything that is on the mat can go through to the carpet. I put a piece of heavy duct tape on the bottom of mat and cut a black felt plug to go down in the mat to help contaminates from reaching the carpet. It’s a stupid design. Overall the sides aren’t as tall and the mat is pretty skimpy under the accelerator pedal. The Jeep floor liners are too good to just throw out, but don’t offer as high a level of protection as the Weather Techs. As for the Willys, I took the back seat out and have the rear floor covered with a Home Depot entry mat too.

Do you actually need hose out the Jeep?? . . . or drain water from an ill-advised water crossing??
