Jeep® Brand Extends Availability of Tuscadero Exterior Paint for Wrangler Into 2022 Model Year in Response to Strong Customer Demand

2022 Jeep® Wrangler Production Kicks Off at the Toledo (Ohio) Assembly Plant on Dec. 16, 2021
  • Tuscadero exterior paint color now available for ordering through December 2021
  • Nearly 30,000 orders for Tuscadero in its first three months of availability
  • Tuscadero is available on Wrangler Sport, Sahara, Rubicon, 4xe and 392 models
December 9, 2021 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Since ordering opened in August 2021 for the limited-run Tuscadero exterior paint color for the Jeep® Wrangler, the head-turning hue has racked up nearly 30,000 orders, making it the most popular Wrangler special-edition color this year.

“We expected Tuscadero to be popular and the customer response has been overwhelmingly strong," said Jim Morrison, vice president and head of Jeep brand North America. “It's so popular, we're extending production into 2022 model-year production to meet strong customer demand. Customers can place an order through December of this year.”

The audacious Tuscadero, a deep and intense chromatic magenta, joins a lengthy lineup of vivid, special-run colors, including Gecko, Chief and Nacho, all of which add customization and appeal to the Jeep Wrangler with a special color palette straight from the factory.

Available on all Wrangler models, including Sport, Sahara, Rubicon, 4xe and 392, the Tuscadero exterior paint option can be ordered now through December 2021 and is priced at a U.S. manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $395.

Bananas! That’s like 15% of annual production, and it will only have been available for five months.

Does that (roughly) pencil out to 25% of orders in those five months being Tuscaderos? That can’t be right.
That is crazy. I read that they only made 1400 Nacho Gladiators for 2021. And it ran for like three months.

And I have seen way more Geckos on dealer lots and on the road than Tuscadero. I wonder if that was meant to be 3k.

It's pretty crazy to think there have been 30k orders of Tuscadero since August. Jeep makes 15-20k Wranglers per month. Even if you spread out that 30k production over Aug thru Jan, you're saying that over 1/4 of all Wranglers produced in that period would be Tuscadero? 😐

30k is lot more than I would have expected. I have seen more Tuscadero on the road this month than I have seen the Gecko, Nacho and Chief blue JL combined.(I actually have yet to see a Nacho JL, every time I see a Nacho colored Jeep it is a Gladiator.)

The phrasing is a little odd and they might not be custom orders, but dealer orders.

So when they say 30k, that could really mean 1 Tuscadero wrangler to each dealership in the US (2400) per month for the next 12 mo. (28,800), and then 1200 custom orders.

Except it won't be available over the next 12 months.

I'd like to have them killed it last month, not so I can have a unicorn but so I don't end up with two of them !
Getting my wifes RHD Pink Jeep was difficult to believe we actually did it in this time of shortages yet they built us such an odd thing but I tell you what - Tuscedero is awesome and I'd like one for myself too !!!
my wish - 2 door, soft top, auto (I have size 16 wide feet so a stick in the narrow Jeep floor and me don't match) base sport, not even air, dealer installed mopar 2" lift and 35's, possibly posi too but definitely in Hot Pink !!!
I don't need it, but I want it - probably 90% of every post on this forum is like that ?
I was waiting out Nov so I'd stop thinking about it and now this. If thats not bad enough there is another Stellanis post showing through January too !
