Earlier this year, Jeep announced the Wrangler would get 35-inch tire options. On Thursday, the iconic 4x4 brand revealed that it would be offering factory 35s for less money with the the 2022 Wrangler Willys Xtreme Recon package.
The package is essentially identical to what is offered on the Rubicon equivalent, albeit without the benefit of the latter's standard off-road goodies. The package includes BF Goodrich KO2 All-Terrain Tires in LT315/70R17C and a factory 1.5-inch lift with new shocks tuned for the job.
A cheaper Xtreme Recon offering helps Jeep fend off the 2021 Ford Bronco and its Sasquatch package, which offers similar goodies but is currently limited to automatic models and, like every Bronco variant, is virtually impossible to find in showrooms.
The Willys Xtreme Recon will join the rest of the 2022 Wrangler lineup in showrooms later this fall. Exact pricing wasn't given, but a representative said it will start under $40,000 before destination charge.

I wonder if it’s gonna have the same springs as the rubi xr. Or if it’s 1.5in higher than factory willy’s sport, still being shorter than the rubi xr. Cant wait to see if it’ll have lockers etc. Might be worthy of a trade up from my sport.

This is awesome! Not exactly what I would get for myself (I love my Rubicon) but it will be great to recommend to budget-conscious people who don’t necessarily want or need lockers and sway bar disco.

Too bad jeep doesn’t sell them from the factory with only half doors. If I could have gotten my 2-door Rubicon with just half doors I would have. Hell, there was a time when you paid extra for the full doors.

Quote from the article:
To continue it's growth trajectory, Morrison says Jeep will continue to look to its customers to hear their feedback and wish lists. Their comments are why the brand introduced the V-8-powered Wrangler Rubicon 392 this year and has introduced the pinkish "Tuscadero" color, a limited-time offer for $395 that has been so popular the brand added a fourth month of manufacturing it, Morrison said.

Competition is great for everyone, but especially great for Jeep owners.
Ford Bronco has forced FCA to work harder to EARN our money and loyalty!

Thank the Ford for these many blessings! (Brave New World reference 😉)

I would be foolish for Jeep to offer this with an M186 front axle, the failure rate would be too high. This may well be a bargain for many buyers.

There was a thread, probably still active about offering a Willys with a rear locker and optional gear ratios. Many argued that doing so would cut into Rubicon sales, well look at this offering, it goes above and beyond that.

Looking at the Rubicon flares, with added lips, I'd have to assume that the axles are the wide Rubicon axles. I doubt it will have a 4.1 transfer case, front locker or sway bar disconnect. But it would not srprise me if a rear locker was offered.

I don't see Rubicon sales suffering too much, as there is a certain prestige to the package that many can't resist. Then there are the few who use them as designed.
