Edit: somebody fact check that, but I’m pretty sure that’s true it may also come with the 6MT without LSD.

That’s interesting. I had called Jeep before and they said it’s not standard It’s an extra option.

When I ordered my JL sport in 2019 the 6MT with LSD came with the D44 rear axle. I’m just not sure if the 6MT is the trigger for D44 or the combo of 6MT and LSD.

6 MT triggers the beefier Dana 44 axle but not the anti-slip diff. That is a $595. option except for the Willys where it is standard equipment.

The LSD is the trigger for the D44 (M220).

Ordering a Willys package gets the M220 (HD D44 with limited slip) as part of the package, but the option can be ordered separately on several models. It can be on either auto or 6MT versions.

I had the knock and replaced my carrier/LSD with ARB locker. If it were me, I’d stear clear of the LSD unless you just want the D44, and ready to deal with this issue eventually.

I love an open diff on the slippery roads. LSD tends to kick the vehicle sideways. 3 of my 4 vehicles are open…

Has anyone figured out why they don't offer LSD in a Rubicon? The need for LSD is during mostly on road driving where lockers are of no use. So why not offer LSD in a Rubi as well?

Had the Jeep 3 years, approx 25,000 miles; no clunking.

A LSD can be a big help in snow (& dirt) but can also be a pain in the butt on ice. If your ordering your Wrangler I would definitely add it to the list, in the long run I think you’ll be happy that you did. Have the fluid changed per the maintenance schedule and you should not have to worry about longevity.
