Tire prices have shot through the roof just in the last week, with popular tires suddenly going into backorder.I started to realize that as I was researching.
I've spent like 5 hours tonight learning tire sizes again. It's been a few years. I've been playing around with what sizes are available and what will make the most sense. I think I came to the conclusion that 255/80/17 is the best option to keep the width the same on the wheels and still get a ~33 in tire. Bfg makes a 34x10.5x17 but at $403 a tire it just doesn't seem like the best buy for an additional inch. I can get 255/80's for under $300 a tire, only bad part is no Ko2's.
Considering it'll be in snow a lot I also decided that a narrow tire would also give better snow traction. I went full adhd hyper focus on this (if you know you know what that means).
From what's available in that size I'm leaning discovery st or wildpeak at3. I've never ran toyo or nitto.

I’ve been keeping an eye on 285/75R18 tires for a while. Duratrac went from $260, to $330 to $360 within 10 days; Falken Wildpeak AT is completely gone everywhere.
Very weird.
I don’t know how long this “shortage” is going to last, but these prices are not sustainable. This is my 3rd full set of tires I'm purchasing this year. I had noticed that when my truck size became unavailable in wildpeak and had to go with the rubitrek. It's insane, the shortages are everywhere right now. Why I'm buying now even though my wrangle isn't even built yet. I think it's just going to get worse.
It happens when the government just prints more money, inflation is a real thing and it's likely here to stay sadly.I don’t know how long this “shortage” is going to last, but these prices are not sustainable.
These tire price hikes are NOT due to inflation. It happens when the government just prints more money, inflation is a real thing and it's likely here to stay sadly.
YES -stock Willys OEM wheels - NO spacers NO rubbingWith the stock Willys wheels? Angle isn't great to tell for sure
I’ve seen in other Willys threads that several people are receiving their new Jeep without the rubber all weather floor mats and a -165/195 line item for those on the order sheet. Apparently there is a significant rubber shortage happening right now. That’s possibly the cause for those big fluctuations. These tire price hikes are NOT due to inflation.
If general prices were going up this fast we would be having hyperinflation, which we are not. Something else is going on.
BTW, that KO2 size 34x10.5 actual dimensions are 33.5x10.5 inches, E-load; price right now is $405/tire.I started to realize that as I was researching.

I hope that isn't the case with our order. If it doesn't the dealers gonna need to make that right.I’ve seen in other Willys threads that several people are receiving their new Jeep without the rubber all weather floor mats and a -165/195 line item for those on the order sheet. That's what I decided to go with, but back ordered with no confirmed in stock date.BTW, that KO2 size 34x10.5 actual dimensions are 33.5x10.5 inches, E-load; price right now is $405/tire.
BFG makes a KO2 tire very close in size to that one, 285/75R17. The tire’s actual dimensions are 33.9x11.3 inches, E-load; price is $298/tire.

When I bought my 21 JL, the dealer put a lift, changed out 5 tires to 35's & just added it on the final. It can be done, just depends how nice your dealer is.The tires are on sale. Buy 4 get the 5th for $1. $1,767.70 + tax (they are blackwall)
They can’t be billed with the Jeep for the sale price so you would have to pay for them separate on a repair order.
Wheels with sensors = $395/ea x 5 = $1,975
Mopar 2” Kit = $1,750 installed
Take off credit for all 5 if we get them is ($1000)
That's what they sent wheels are the jeep beadlock wheels
My local Discount Tire says they can get them in 1-5 business daysThat's what I decided to go with, but back ordered with no confirmed in stock date.
That's expensive! Plus those are E loadMy local Discount Tire says they can get them in 1-5 business days
