I would like to mount a 37” tire on the tailgate but don’t know what I need.

37”-12.5-17
Factory steel bumpers

I was thinking about passing on the factory reinforcement . I’d like it tucked up to the gate if possible. I don’t want to add a bunch of depth.

Thanks in advance

Get something heavy duty like the EVO or Rustys carrier. Youre putting a wider tire on there so its going to stick out more no matter what.

Thanks, I like this setup
Mopar is overpriced for what little you get. You'd also need their relocation bracket, that reuses the factory plastic carrier, to clear the rear bumper. That relocation bracket will move the tire further from the gate and the cantilever affect will amplify the spares weight. For similar money, an aftermarket hinged reinforcement and adjustable carrier is a better bet. Even if spending more, your still getting a lot more bang for the buck and will have a much stronger setup.

I went with the Cavfab Elite unit, and had it powder coated locally because they are shipped out bare. I couldn't be happier, and would highly recommend it.

I have the Mopar reinforcement, and the Teraflex spare tire carrier. They handle 37s fine, but I do have Method 316 17" and 37" KO2 D rated, which is a relatively light setup for 37s. You could easily have a wheel and tire combo that is 25 pounds (or even more) heavier than my setup. I doubt it would be a problem, honestly, but just making it clear that my experience is with my lighter setup.
