Is it just an option right now or is it mandatory, like the rear camera ?

26R... 2021 Rubicon Diesel isn't available to order... (no diesel is)...

I HOPE THEY ARE GETTING RID OF ESS ON THE DIESEL!!!

They did on the RAM Pick-up...

ESS on diesel is STUPID... just my (not so humble) opinion...

Can’t disagree, but if they used it on the EPA test cycle it is not going anywhere. [and, let's face it, it is only there to help the EPA test cycle]. It won’t even allow permanent disablement except through the aftermarket.

And with that said, me personally, while I don’t want to have to do so, I don’t really have a problem pressing the disable button or using something like the Taser Mini to permanently disable it. At least at that point you have a normally functioning gas engine. My bigger concern is the new eTorque system on ALL engines. I guess I don’t fully understand it but it sounds like it’s partially a hybrid engine. Can someone explain this to me ? Is this a good thing or a bad thing ?

I already have a 2020, would like to retrofit the front camera.
It might make it into the accessories catalogue, otherwise it will be a case of figuring out part numbers.

eTorque isnt on all engines. The gas turbo doesnt have it. Which is interesting, because I have the eTorque system in my 2.0 Sahara, but I have a 2019. So far mine has been flawless, over 14 months.

I think Rubicon turbo without the eTorque would be the way to go if I were to order again.

It's a very very mild hybrid system that is added to some jeeps to help improve off the line fuel efficiency by an EPA rating of 1mpg.
it's a controversial system with some people being very happy with it, and some people feeling like the maintenance and potential repair cost don't warrant the increased fuel efficiency. There's a little history of the system's battery failing pre-maturely resulting in a 1500 dollar warranty fix. While covered under warranty, there is concern it will become a nightmare when out of warranty.

FWIW, I have eTorque in my 2020 Ram and our JL, the system is phenomenal in both. Really makes the 'start/stop' feature usable (almost unnoticeable honestly)

3 cooling systems, turned me off.

8,9,11 and 12 look like future trouble.
