Are you constantly driving uphill? The Manual Gladiator with 3.73s I drove felt perfect, and 3.45 gearing won't be that much different. I can see the only real issue with it would be upsizing tires and I'm not sure OP would do that if he just wants a tow behind for his RV.
Even the smallest slope will have you grabbing 5th or even 4th. It's painful, and that was the stock tires with 4.10 gears. 6th gear is a downhill gear.

I mean yeah, pretty much every transmission is not going to be in overdrive going uphill, but I didn't find 6th as useless as you're making it out to be.

Well you test drive it for what, 20 or 30 minutes? I've owned it for 2 years.

Enough to get a good feel for how it drives yeah. The whole time I've been hearing people complain about this transmission and when I finally got my hands on one I completely failed to see what the fuss was about.

I had a JK MT and a JLR MT and just order another JLR MT.

The JL tranny is much nicer than the JK. Very good gearbox. The clutch feels a little light at times. The 4.10s aren't quite enough. I actually wrote to Jeep's Engineers recommending 4.56s for the tire size on Rubicon. 6th is rarely used and definitely only for flat, downhill grades.

My 2021 is getting 37s and 5.13s. (maybe 5.38s)

Oh I love the transmission. It just needs to be paired with the proper gear/tire combo. The 3.45 gearing is just all wrong for it.

Slowly collecting the parts/tools to swap to 5.13s in the next few weeks. I'm running 37" trail grapplers. I'll let you know what I think of the combo. I agree the 4.10 is even a bit too high with the factory 33s.

My dealer hardly stocks any Manual Jeeps, that JT was quite a surprise when I found it. I do agree 3.45s with the manual would probably be good for sticking with the factory 32s and not going up in size. I'm honestly not even sure I'd want to go bigger than 33s with my auto. I do think Jeep should have had optional ratios available like the JK did.

We simply NEED things to fuss about... otherwise we wouldn't modify our rigs at all.

I only ever use 1st-4th as fuel economy drops in 5th and 6th. All my other rides have been five speeds so it's no big deal. I do plan to someday go 5.13 or 5.38 just for fun. I would probably just use gears 2-6 as gear one would be too low for anything but crawling

So the gist I'm getting is Jeep didn't gear the manual for 37s. @chevymitchell had a manual JLUR on 37s and he regeared to 4.88. I've seen that Jeep go flying up a few hills after he did the regear and he seemed pretty happy about it. Now he has a 2 door Recon (auto only) and has no intention of regearing even on 37s.
Seems like Jeep should consider optional lower gearing for the manual in the coming MYs.

That 6-speed with 37's and 4.88's was absolutely perfect.

This auto doesn't need a re-gear, or doesn't feel like it does, but I will def. be going 4.88's in this, as well. Right after I get done doing everyone else's gears. Lol. I've got 6 more booked between now and February.

Yeah... it's been a very busy couple months in the 'ole garage. I just finished 4.56's in a JK about an hour ago. Got an ST3 kit coming for tomorrow. Then 3 sets of gears over Christmas break. I think a bunch of Jeepers are getting what they wanted from Santa.

the trans is awesome, but the clutch is absolutely garbage in the JL. to soft and spongy, and honestly feel like mine slips while im driving but i did take it in for the "test" and allegedly it passed. Probably will end up with a centerforce when i get a few bucks saved up to do it. as far as driveability, as others have said back roads i use 4th gear. freeway at 70-80 use 5th. I used 6th once and it wouldnt maintain speed as i was on a slight hill, so dont even use 6th.
