Wear happens on start and warm up.
Most wear happens on cold start and warm up. Neither is true for ESS though and with eTorque no wear to starter either or even AC generator/motor that starts warm engine with half crank through belt, without any mechanical noise.

I would not mind it at all, I hear every cold start the "dry" engine cranks for a spit second without oil, so no doubt it has negative impact. Maybe car manufacturers do not want our engines to outlast the frame, body and transmission.

Man my 360 in my CJ.... talk about cold starts. Nothing like a nerve racking second or two of rattle until the oil pressure came up.
