Update on my transmission failure: Jeep really stepped up and took care of me on this. My 2020 JLU went in to the dealership on 8/6/20 and upon diagnosis they told me it will need a valve body but the part was on backorder with no ETA. I was frustrated to say the least as was unsure how long I would be without a vehicle. I opened a Jeep customer care case on 8/10/20 and they responded 8/11/20 that I had been assigned a Jeep Wave Premium Care specialist for my case.

I requested a loaner 8/11/20 and the dealership was able to get me into a 2020 Ram 1500 4x4 hemi on 8/13/20...not a bad loaner. When I picked up the loaner I spoke with the service advisor and asked for an update on the valve body part and boom all of the sudden the part had come in and the tech would be installing it soon! They explained that hopefully this would fix the issue but there could be a chance it wouldn't and a new transmission would have to be ordered.

Turned out the valve body did fix the issue and I picked up my vehicle on 8/14/20 for a total of 8 days in the shop. I feel as though once I opened the Jeep customer care case everything progressed much quicker but this could have been a coincidence.

I have had my Jeep back for 2 weeks now with no further transmission issues. I'm very pleased with the way Jeep and my dealership handled the issue and I would highly recommend people having a similar issue as me to get Jeep customer care involved to help.

Aug 18, 2020... less than 1200miles on brand new 2020 JL Rubicon Recon 2.0L Auto and the transmission "failed." Sputtered a couple of times at 50mph, revved up, check engine lights came on, then would get out of 1st gear.
Worst part, Selling Dealership is acting like I am bothering them with requesting a loaner vehicle while waiting for diagnostic/repair on this $60k vehicle less than 10-days old.
Suggestions anyone?

@JeepCares Just happened to my wife yesterday... she was driving down I-35 in Fort Worth, TX, all the sudden our Jeep "jerked" and then the check engine light came on. The display showed "Shift to Park" and the transmission lost power. She coasted in heavy traffic over to the shoulder, stopped, and put it in park. She then tried to put it in drive the the D would flash. She tried reverse, same thing. She was in a very dangerous spot on the white lines of an exit. Courtesy patrol came and told her they wanted to push her off onto the shoulder but it would not budge in neutral! When I arrived, we contacted the roadside assistance... long story short, an officer knew about the transmission release on the shifter so we were able to move it to a safer location. The wait time was so long for a second wrecker (first guy they sent was rude and did not have the right equipment) that we towed it ourselves to the dealership, which was about 1/2 mile away. This morning I went to Meador and they said they will not be able to look at it until next week... when we asked for a loaner, they said they did not have any due to covid!! Totally ridiculous and very unlike Jeep... Our Wrangler has 5k miles on it... so disappointing. Our Jeep has the 2.0L turbo...

Update: The service advisor said they were able to look at it yesterday and they have ordered a new valve body... so I need to ask why this has not been recalled if they are having so many failed valve body assemblies?

I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. I went through the same kind of customer service with my Jeep dealership in MA. I wouldn't send anyone to Colonial Hudson Dodge/Jeep Ma. My problem was due to the mechanics being out of touch with Jeeps newest features. They didn't know about park assist. Basically if I have my doors off and put it in reverse without my seatbelt on the jeep with freeze itself and automatically park and not move until seatbelt is on or park and unpark the vehicle.

Yep, too much safety built into the newer Jeeps... wish I would have kept my 76' CJ5...

Update on my 2020 Jeep JLU 2.0l e torque: After replacement of the valve body and one week after I last updated this thread with glowing reviews of how Jeep Customer Care and my dealer took care of the issue once again my Jeep has failed @JeepCares

The same shifter problem was happening and a message came up that said service shifter and the vehicle would not start. It would also not turn off (from the run accessory mode), the only way I could turn it off was to remove the battery cable.

My Jeep was towed to the dealership and they said they checked DTCs and found U codes (lost communication). They inspected wire harness behind glove box for damage or pinched wires they found no issues but did find a rusted ground circuit which was cleaned and reinstalled. How does a brand new Jeep have anything rusted on it that fast?!

Drove the car home from the dealership and 2 days later check engine light is on again! Backed out of driveway and screen said service shifter then it starting idling rough like it was about to stall and all electronics were flickering slightly which I had never seen before. Shifter won't move out of park. My car is stranded once again and will need to be towed to the dealership FOR THE 3RD TIME!! This Jeep has MAJOR electrical problems and I would not be surprised if all of the issues everyone else is having is also electrical related.

This is the most frustrating car I have ever owned. At this point I'm calling this Jeep a lemon. I have never seen so many issues with a brand new car. Not a good first experience with the brand at all. Stay away from the 2.0l e torque motor! Based on my research I don't think they have sorted the new tech and there are major electrical issues that are happening to A LOT of them.

Hopefully a jeep soon
2020 Wangler JL Sahara unlimited just 2 1/2 months old (3k miles on it) stopped at light and refused to reverse or move forward. Engine light came up when the issue occurred. When shifting the gear to D (gear D blinks), it says shift to P . I am very upset with the transmission issue on my new Wrangler JL. Jeep was towed by Chrysler Road side assistance (Scheduling road side assistance was quick and easy, but it took 90 minutes to reach me). Jeep is with dealer now, based on the diagnostics code, service dept. said transmission must be replaced. Parts ordered, wait time 3 - 4 days for parts. I have opened a case with Jeep on this issue. The customer service representative said, this is the first time she is hearing about the transmission issue on 2020 Wrangler JL!

Any one experienced similar issue.
Nothing came out of your pocket? Everything was covered including loaner?

This may or may not be relevant but I'll throw it out there.

Someone I know had same issue and was able to determine the cause. They would back up their car every day out of the driveway and before letting the jeep come to a complete stop, while going backwards still in a fraction of a second, both him and his wife would shift to go forward.

Well that little moment going backwards still while shifting forwards did them in. After being mindful of it they havent had a problem again. Could be completely different issue but just in case...

This really sucks. My auto trans also went out and needed a full replacement. I really like my Jeep, It has no steering issues or anything else, but the new trans is very jerky. I don’t trust it. Mine is a 2018 Sahara and I was thinking about getting a new one but it seems FCA still has quality control issue.

Yep. Mine is currently at the dealership for repairs for the 3rd time and has been disabled due to transmission/electric for 2 weeks with no update.

Get ready for a long wait, my Jeep was at the dealer for 11, ELEVEN straight weeks. And the new trans they installed has weird shift points and is jerky.

Just some advice on getting them moving, call the Chrysler customer service line and advise them what is going on. Also, tag @JeepCares in your post so that they get the info as well. When we had to take our new Jeep in for service, it was literally in and out within 2 days! I attribute the fast turn around to my call to Chrysler... Good luck and hopefully they will come out with a fix SOON!!

Appreciate the advice and luck, I called them the day it went in to the dealership and tagged @JeepCares as well. The first couple of times it went in for the same thing I did the same by opening a customer service case and it was a fairly quick turn around time. This time my case had been escalated to "customer retention specialist" and now it has been escalated again to "early resolution team".

Also Jeep Star Technical support is working directly with my dealership technician in getting the repair completed. No update on completion timeline at this point. Not sure what the "early resolution team" does as I have not received communication from this department yet even though it was escalated to them 5 days ago. We shall see...
