Growing up in Asia and Middle East, I was always around Land Rover Defenders and old school Land Cruisers. My family had a 70 series Land Cruiser. When it came time to buy my own, I opted for the HellaYella color, which reminded me of the Camel Trophy Yellow Defenders.
I met Dave Harriton, the owner of AEV, at Overland Expo West a year ago, and talked about the JL builds and the JK Outpost 2. And after chatting with him, I knew I wanted to just go with a turn key build and not worry about mixing and matching different suspensions and shocks and other components, and worrying about ride comfort, death wobble etc.
When the JL370 packages were ready to be built, I got a call from them earlier this year and placed my order. The build was scheduled to be done end of March, early April, but got delayed due to COVID shutdowns.
It finally arrived yesterday and I love it. I love the way it handles. With the AEV suspension, the steering feels fantastic, no slack, nice and taut. And it rides much firmer than factory. The 4.56 gearing is good enough, it feels peppy off the lights and highway speeds. I'll do a review of it later down the road, once I get familiar with everything.
Here is the full spec on top of a loaded JLUR.
