I bought my new 2019 JL June 3, 2019. Twelve days later after odd engine noise and fluid all over my undercarriage, it was towed to the dealer. Less than two week old, and only 500 miles, I am told the entire transmission has to be replaced. By a dealer tech. I feel the Jeep should be replaced under lemon law, because there is no way a local dealer tech replacing my tranny is as good as factory manufactured. It will be worth less. @JeepCares disagrees. I have not made my first payment, and the Jeep will soon have been in the repair shop longer than my driveway!!!

Hi Jarhead-Jeepster,

I wasn't able to find a private message from you. Are you referring to our phone team? Send us a direct message with your case number as I'd be glad to discuss this in more detail.

JeepCares on Twitter keeps directing me to "Joe W" from the "FCA Premium Team."

My tranny was supposed to be here last Friday. Then today. Now this Friday. I have 500 miles on my Jeep before the tranny blew, now I have 1200 miles on my loaner. Terrible.

If a new auto is in the shop with repairs for 30 days in the first 2 years or 24,000 miles (In Oregon), it is a lemon. Mine will soon be at 25 days. I wish my Jeep just became a lot/loaner for Gresham Jeep, and me get a new one. No way a 2nd transmission installed at a dealer by a tech is as good as one factory installed.

If I were in your situation I'm sure I'd have similar frustrations, sucks to have such a setback so soon (or at all for that matter). But a transmission swap isn't something too complex for a decent service dept., you should expect that the new AT will perform as a new one should from the factory.

And it damn well better since you've been out of it for awhile now :(

OK, not an FCA story, but a similar thing happened to me when my then brand-new Volvoā€™s auto trans failed at about 200 miles! Took it back to the dealer, and no replacement trans was available...so, they pulled a trans out of another new one on the lot and put it in mine.

I drove the wheels off that thing (got a Volvo high mileage award with it), then gave it to a family member; I never had any further trans issues with it.

So...I wouldnā€™t worry about a replacement trans.

The Twitter team is actually apart of the Social Media Team so I do see those interactions. Whenever a case is already created with the team we normally escalate to, we do redirect you back to your case specialist to continue working toward a solution. I do apologize for the trouble you've experienced thus far.

Hi there, just bought a 2019 Sahara Unlimited with just under 8000km. Has anyone experienced a transmission noise when shifting from park to drive or reverse? I will hear a clunking noise especially on a cold start up. Is this normal? Thanks

Hi vilewolf,
We understand why this may be concerning. Feel free to send us a PM if you decide to have your dealer look into this and we will be happy to provide you with additional assistance.

The 8 speed does have a learning process, so some of the hard shifts "should" improve over time. I like how the 8 spd shifts on acceleration from a stop- really smooth and at perfect time. But when coming to a stop it definitely feels a little confused, waits too long in 3rd gear and sometimes results in rough shifts if you try to accelerate again before coming to a full stop. I am still hoping it will smoothen out with more miles, but that may be wishful thinking.
Any update?
im facing the same problem on my 2021 rubicon
