The first maybe 500 miles were significantly worse on fuel efficiency for me, averaging more like 14-15 combined instead of about 19 now. I just assumed it was somewhat due to the break-in, and moreso due to the computers fine tuning the timings on everything.

I have a Moab. Very happy with it but a little disappointed with the mileage. about 13 to 14 to start, now with 1700 miles on it, about 15 to 16, maybe 17. About 50/50 city highway. I suspect those tires, heavy, bug lugged. even rolling slowly, I can feel the entire vehicle seems like its on 1" gravel. I will replace with KO2's when these wear out! I feebly tried to get the dealer to change tires, but would not unless I also gave up the rims. I guess FCA made the Moab for marketing reasons, not with the end user in mind.
Also those mud tires do not have any sipes on them, so they are not good on wet roads. If its raining I take the Tesla...

We've got about 1K miles on our Moab. Getting around 16-17mpg now in the city. Maybe 20-21 on the highway, if we keep under 75-80mph :)

Yep, we're still running here with the stock Mud tires. And we plan to keep it that way. Wifey and I love the ride, and the tires. This ain't noise, it's music. It's a Jeep man! No intent on changing them out.

I have a 2019 Moab with 4500 miles. Getting 20-21 mpg now. Was getting 18 for the first 2-3 k miles. I swapped the mud tires for BFG KO2s. Much quieter and smoother ride. Loving it.

Good to know, I'm at 7K miles and also about 18mpg. Increased fuel efficiency would be a bonus for switching tires! I assume 285/70/17 like Rubicons?

Almost 6,000 miles on an unlimited Moab edition with a mix of highway and city driving and averaging 20 mph. Definitely felt sluggish for the first thousand miles but once the tires weren’t new the ride became noticeably smoother and not as loud. Love my Moab. Only issue needing fixing are the inner console latch that broke the day after I received the Moab and the middle back seat doesn’t latch and keeps falling down. Otherwise, sweet ride. Love watching the Rubicon jeepers spying my ride. Yes, it’s sweet

Not a DD. Almost 6 month of ownership and about 1650 miles on it. Had KM2 for the first 500 miles and then KO2 the rest. Computer not updated to reflect slightly larger tires (33 vs 32 inch). 80% of miles in rural roads between 30 and 45mph and the rest on highway between 65 and 70 mph. I drive with a light foot on gas and brake. So far averaging 21.1 mpg. I do notice warmer weather brings about 0.5 to 1 mpg higher.

Did you notice any change when you switched tires? Mainly, did it feel any more peppy?

I notice the better ride quality but not the acceleration as I didn't accelerate hard at all. Also I notice very little in fuel consumption after switching the tires. For me the most fuel savings came from the rise in temperature. Also, I believe KO2 is heavier than KM2.

Tires are the key to this discussion. I purchased a new 2018 Sahara with the Bridgestone tires and was amazed at the gas mileage, over 21. I purchase a set of Rubicon takeoffs with tires, love the look but my gas mileage dropped to 17 to 19. Sounds like the mud terrain tires could be worst.

Mostly town ... some highway speeds but stop and go ... averaging about 17.5 most of the time. Only 1700 miles - it's our 3rd car/fun car. I did get over 20 mpg on a 4 hour trip with speeds around 70mph with little wind. Obviously wind kills the fuel economy on a Jeep.

Just switched out the M/Ts for Duratracs in a larger size (285/70/17). They are 4 pounds less than the M/Ts despite being bigger.

I just ordered a set of 5 255/80r17s.
Old school. Tall and skinny. 10” wide, 33” tall. 46 pounds.
I know the wide profile is the in thing right now, but they’re heavy, expensive, and knock the hell out of fuel efficiency and acceleration, I’m told. And hard on parts.
When I started 4 wheeling (I called it earning a living falling timber then) in the late ‘70s in Montana, most everyone ran tall and narrow. Worked great then. Ought to now, I reckon.
We’ll see.
