I bought a brand new 2019 JL Sport on August 2nd of this past year. Needless to say I love the vehicle and it is a blast to drive. (have not done much offroading yet). A few days after I brought it home i started to smell anti-freeze but i figured some may have dripped when they filled the jeep up and it ran down. A few more weeks goes by and i notice that my anti freeze is low and i can still smell it.

Then i found a drop of it on the ground in the garage one day while installing a new bumper. I called the dealer ship and they told me to bring it in on September 1st. September 2nd they called me and told me that i had a defective water pump and that it had to be replaced.

They said the part would arrive in two days. I left my jeep there and called the following Thursday to see if the part had arrived and it did not. I called the next day (Friday) and they said the part still has not arrived and that it was 3-5 days out. Since this is my only means of transportation, I had to have the vehicle and i told them i was coming to pick it up. I drove the jeep and kept an eye on the coolant level every day. I had to call the dealership back the following week to see if the part came in and it was there.

They told me to bring it in this past Sunday (September 15th) and drop it off over night since they cannot work on it while the engine is hot. They told me that it would be done by lunch time Monday (September 16th). I called them at 1:30 pm Monday and the said they havent even started on it. At this point im starting to get frustrated but im still trying to be patient with them.

I call them the next morning (Tuesday, September 17th) and they told me it would be ready by 1 pm. I called at 1:15 pm and they said it would be another 30 or 45 minutes because the mechanic is filling up the coolant and is going to test drive it. They called me back right before i walked out the door and told me now there is a problem with the auto start/stop system and that it was showing a warning light. So i had to leave it over night....again. This time they provided me with a Nissan Altima through Enterprise rental.

I got a call today (September 18th) this morning saying that the jeep is ready to be picked up. So i drove to the dealership and picked it up and everything ran fine. I got home and about 30 minutes later i walked out and theres another drop of anti-freeze on the ground in the garage. I called them back and said that it is still leaking. Service guy told me that it could be residual left over from when they drained it. So i drove it to work and checked it about 45 minutes after i got to work. Now theres a puddle about the size of the palm of your hand in the parking lot. I called them back and they said i will need to bring it in again to have them check it out.

I called the dealership manager and he did nothing for me and told me i should call FCA. I called FCA and they opened a case on my jeep and said they would get back to me in 1-4 business days. I am curious what you guys think i should do about this situation and just looking to get some input on this.

HI @xtimesofgrace,

We're saddened to learn of this experience that you've had at your dealer with your new Jeep Wrangler. Working with your case manager is the best course of action. Please feel free to send me a private message with your VIN or case number so that I can look into an update on your case.

So just to give an update for those that care. The Jeep is back in the shop and they are trying to diagnose the issue. They said there is a possibility that there is an issue in the block that is causing the water pump to not seal correctly. If that is the case they will have to replace the whole long block. I told them that if that happens then I will deny that option because I do not want my brand new vehicle with 1600 miles to have an entire engine replacement.

I had the same exact problem with the coolant on my 18" Sahara, told me the same about the water pump and it got replaced. Next couple of days it happened again, took my Jeep back in and they did diagnostics. They replaced the hose then they test drove it and it kept leaking and said ti was now the gauge that they believe the new water pump pressure defected. after having the Jeep for only a month and a half and only being able to use it for about two weeks. I decided to go through with the Lemon Law. Don't think i should be having problems with a vehicle that I bought with 5 miles on it. to this day having it fro 2 months and a half i'm barely hitting 1K MILES from how many times its been at the dealer,
I thought I was the only one with this problem however y friend just got herself a 19' Sahara and same thing with the coolant.

wonder if this is a factory issue they're having?

So far I think mine is fixed. After taking it back the 2nd time they replaced one of the hoses on the thermostat. I smelled coolant for the next week or so but figured it was residual. The smell has gone away for now. I Hope you get yours fixed soon. I know how bad it sucks to keep having to take it back to the dealership.

Curious: why didnā€™t they give you a rental or loaner the first time you left it overnight? Itā€™s not their money, they get reimbursed by FCA because itā€™s under warranty. My dealership has always provided a loner or gotten me into a rental when they kept my previous Jeeps overnight - fortunately those previous times were for leaking issues and nothing serious. This week I had to have the slave and master cylinders replaced on my manual 18 JLU. They gave me a loaner and even said there was no problem with my going out of state for work for two days.

They told me they didnā€™t have one. I even asked them for a used car off their lot and they said they couldnā€™t do that. Basically they didnā€™t give a rats ass and didnā€™t bother trying to help me. They already had my money why would they care? Thatā€™s the impression I got anyways. The 2nd time I had to take it back they gave me a rental from enterprise. They only did that because I had FCA involved and they told them to.
