Steering box recall...? My dealer told me the recall has to do with the steering dampener. Are they pulling my leg?

Look into TSB 08-074-20. They replaced the aluminum box with steel. It definitely improved the steering, especially with 37s.

Dang... The part they ordered was a steering dampener. I will call them tomorrow with that TSB. Thank you!

I think the steering dampener was a previous fix, prior to the recall. Most dealers have long lines waiting on limited supplies of steering boxes. Last fall when it was announced, dealers were limited to ordering one box every other week. When I called a local dealer right after the recall opened, I was like #17 in line. I ended finding a dealer in a rural area 100 miles away. I was #3 on their list. I doubt the supply chain issue has fixed itself, expect a wait or find a rural dealer with less demand like I did.

Even for the steering dampener, I'm waiting a month. My dealer said they get 2 a week, so hopefully I'm up soon, but by the sounds of it, I don't even have the right part on order. My Jeep is also a 2019 Rubicon 3.6 so we are likely in the same recall group.

Bump. Back up for sale or it’ll be traded in once I find the right vehicle.

Removing these tires and will be replaced with 5 Patagonia MTs. These Toyos MTs are going on our truck.
