I combined all 3 options together in my build and got best of three worlds:

Most economically viable 35s daily driver - offroader.

- 35.1x11.2 Pizza Cutters (285/75/18 Duratracs) on stock Sahara 18” wheels. (Saved around $1000 from aftermarket wheels)
- 2” ~ 2.5” suspension lift (2” Synergy coils and Teraflex 2.1 Falcon shocks - Cost around $600 total)

Overall the tires and lift only probably cost around 1700$ in total and I got one hell of a ride!

More or less my build plan. Keep the stock rims for a while, put a 2.5" MC Gamechanger lift on.

Hey guys.
I have a 2018 JLU Sahara. I have Rubi take off wheels and tires (~33" BF KO2).

Note - I plan on doing VERY LITTLE offroading -and even then light trails. This is my daily driver and I am NOT an offroader.

I'd like to get a 2.5 inch lift, but am getting conflicting advice from two dealers:
1. [Cheap option]: Can I keep my BFG KO2 tires and wheels, get a 2.5" spacer lift?
2.[A bit more option]: Can I keep my BFF K02 tires and wheels, get a 2.5" spacer lift and add wheel spacers for a wider stance?
3. [more expensive option]: Am I just fooling myself and should I just go with a new suspension lift and 35" in tires?

I have searched this forum up and down but am having troubles sorting it all out.
Thanks!
Hey man, I bought a new sahara On 11/2018 and just wanted to do minimal since it was my first Wrangler and my daily driver/ leased company vehicle. I went with mastercraft courser MXT’s 35”x12’s on the stock sahara wheels, synergy spacers, a 2.5” Rough Country spacer lift, and a razer jl mini to adjust for tire pressure and speedometer. I do mostly highway driving and after over a year with this setup i have zero complaints. If i decide to buy another in the future i would probably go with a 4” mopar lift, 37’s. My setup rides pretty comparable to stock and In my opinion, looks good without being overdone. I have taken it off road many times and it handles great. Fuel economy went down a few mpg but it was expected I dont want to push it to the limits or beat it up so it works for me. Ignore all the Jeep hardos and do what you like and just enjoy your Jeep.

One option not mentioned, Get a Rubi suspension take offs. It technically would still be stock. You would just change out the springs and shocks. And if needed you can replace the LCA's. There has been considerable discussion on the forum whether or not to change.
This is exactly what I did, looks and rides great!

Thanks Jason - My setup looks very similar to your profile pic. I have rubicon takeoff wheels - looks like you do too.

Are those 33's or 35's? Am I accurate that they're the standard rubi wheels?

And finally, if you had it lifted, did you put spacers on your wheels to give it a wider stance?
Actually I traded in my Sahara after just one month and bought the Rubicon!

If you like the Rubicon look, you already have the wheels...so buy a takeoff Rubi suspension($200-$250), rock rails($60-$100), and high line front fender flares($250-$400) and you'll have the look..Pretty inexpensive too

How bad of a hit did you take for depreciation on the Sahara trade in?

OP I apologize for the thread hijack

May I weigh in an optimal solution—

I combined all 3 options together in my build and got best of three worlds:

Most economically viable non-Rubicon 35s daily driver - offroader.

- 35.1x11.2 Pizza Cutters (285/75/18 Duratracs) on stock Sahara 18” wheels. (Saved around $1200 from aftermarket wheels)
- 2” ~ 2.5” suspension lift (2” Synergy coils and Teraflex 2.1 Falcon shocks - Cost around $600 total)
- Plush springs and stiff shocks provide best dampening and allow greatest travel. Superb balance between on and off-road performance.
-Tire only weighs 60lb so I get around 21 mpg average. Still see 8th gear occasionally, mostly 7th. This will be the only tire/wheel setup that still allows you to see 8th with 3.45 gearing and keep your mileage as close as stock.

Overall the tires and lift only cost around 1700$ in total and I got one hell of a ride!

I went with dual rate springs with my lift, and very glad I did so. With those and the Fox shocks, I don’t even have to slow down for speed bumps!

I bought it for 36,5 traded for 34..plus I lost all the tax, doc etc...I got the Rubi for 44,108 so they lost a little too.

I know it was a hit, but I'm happier...next time I'll make sure I get what I want the first time!

what springs?
This doesn’t help me at all. I have a single rate spring that im asking about to pair with a digressive shock vs fox is progressive

Not sure about your state but in some states the tax is only figured on the difference between new price and tradein price, IOW you didn't pay sales tax twice.

I'm running 33" on my stock rims, I see 8th all the time 80KPH or faster.
(We don't have K down here, we don't even have L, we're up to M. ) I've heard a few people complain that they bought 33s and now can't get beyond 7th gear so I was wondering how common this was.

Just have to ensure the speedo recalibrated.

Did you have to use wheel spacers with this build?
