Purchased brand new 1st week of January 2019 with 6 miles on it from a local dealership.

Monday March 4th, 2019-1500 miles on odometer---- at work leaving for lunch, turn it on and there is no power steering in vehicle. Dealership tows it to their service department and the next day, it is fixed with the explanation that the computer had an update, and since the power steering is electrical they had to reset it.

Monday April 1st, 2019---2600 miles on odometer---get in to go to work, turn it on and there is no power steering! Dealership tows it to service and two days later, its fixed and its another update!

I have been stranded twice now in 3 months, and they have no idea if or when another update will leave me stranded.
I have read a bunch of issues on here about the power steering failure when driving, curious if anyone else out there has had this same issue when the vehicle was just turned on and still in park.

I don't remember seeing a full power steering failure mentioned in the forum, but I could have missed it. Did it show the error on the EVIC? I'm sure you checked this already, but just in case, the power steering fluid level is good?

There is no power steering fluid. The power steering is completely electrical in the 2018 model. The system is ran solely on computer modules.

There is PS fluid. Is an electric hydraulic system. Check under your hood and you will see a ps reservoir. The pump is electronic and controlled by the ECU. So there is that. But fluid is still pumped through and to the steering box.

I wonder if there is a way to disable over-the-air "updates." Like where the hell is the antenna or receiver for these?

Sorry, but I am a conspiracy theorist (not a theory if true you know) and I'm waiting for the day all hell breaks loose and the government sends out vehicle shutdown codes to any vehicle so equipped...

Thank you for the information, I will do that!
Check the fluid level and make sure all your fuses are properly seated. They are not likely the issue, but these are quick to check and eliminates some obvious causes. After that you can ask the dealer to do their thing.

There is a TSB out there and listed on the forum for a loss of power steering boost especially in cold weather. I had this issue myself and a computer flash cured the problem. An entire lack of boost is a different issue and could be a harness issue or bad pump. If the dealer canā€™t figure it outā€”change dealers. Have one open a Star Case for engineering assistance. They will get it resolved!

Picked my vehicle up from dealership again Wednesday afternoon, once again they said it was an update that needed to be done. Get in it this morning and no power steering again. Towed back to dealership and once again in a loaner vehicle. At this point, there is obviously more going on than just a computer update, something else needs to happen. Computer has been flashed on all 3 occasions now and its not resolved.

Sucks to have issues....

Hope you know enough not to be paying for the towing yourself...

Call Jeep Road Service.... Ph. 800-992-1997 .. They pay for the flat bed.. no cost to you.

Be sure to tell the rep that answers, that the vehicle per the user's manual.... MUST be flat bedded not towed anywhere.

So here I am, searching out this exact topic, because my beloved 2019 JLUR manual tranny model w 2900 miles on it just did this to me today except I was driving on the highway!!!!! I thought I was hallucinating. Power steering went OUT. Safely exited highway and came to a stop off exit ramp...lol and behold it was back. Zero warning lights or messages. Thatā€™s what disturbs me the most!

We are not paying for towing, since it is still under warranty the dealership is responsible. They do put it on a flatbed as well.
