New to the site and finally decided to purchase my first wrangler. I found one that has everything I am hoping for, but the price seems pretty high for a 2018. I know many people have gotten 2019s for below invoice and cheaper than a 2018 might be on the lot.

MSRP abour $39k, they came back at 36k.

Any advice/thoughts on my situation? I would rather not order a 2019.

Window sticker attached.

Thanks!

That 8% below MSRP. Not a good deal on leftover 2018. Contact dealers recommended on forum. Maybe they have some in stock. You need at least 10-12% below msrp for a good deal. 2018, I wouldn't get either with all potential issues they have with 1st year model builds. Use cargurus, might help with local dealers.

Pricing seems to be a very area dependent and people claim to have been offered gigantic discounts on leftovers but having just bought one I can say that personally you would want at minimum 10-12% off MSRP if not more IMO. I would counter with 33-34K. They can always say no. Would think they would be anxious to move it.

BTW Haven't had any problems with my '18. Since it doesn't seem like any physical changes were made to '19's not sure how they were cured of any issues, and if they somehow were they would apply them to '18's wouldn't they?

What was your initial offer to them? No way would I take a leftover 2018 for only $3k off.

The 2018/19's share same suspension/steering components, maybe the 2019's have a few revised parts but those can be installed on the 2018's. At this point the only factors are

1. 2019's will have a stronger value
2. If you are ordering a 2019, you will have to wait...at which point you might be better off waiting to order a 2020 sometime mid this year.

I just bought a 2018 JLU Sahara for about 12% off MSRP. Iā€™m very happy with my deal. Donā€™t settle, find the right price for you.

Offset by the lower purchase price buying one now. Probably a wash.

not really, OP is being offered a 2018 at 8% under msrp. There's a few dealers offering 12-13% under msrp on new 2019 orders. If he can beat that and doesn't want to wait for a 2019, then it's an "okay" deal.

Their offer of ~7.5% is a bit low. I bought my 2018 a couple months ago and managed to get about 12% off MSRP. Granted they had a good inventory of 2019s and several dealers in town to compete with. Iā€™ve seen dealers on this forum post ads for 6% off invoice for new 2019s which is close to 8-10% off MSRP depending model ( e.g. sport invoice is barely a few hundred off MSRP) and options it has.

I just landed 18ā€™ JLUS with sticker at 51545 for 43,265... Thatā€™s about 17 off and seems about right for the Phoenix area... they also tossed in Tint and all weathers.

There is also a $500 rebate here that should be on top of the 7-8% off invoice. Get on car gurus and you will see sports advertised for 5-6k off. I think I saw $8k from a couple dealers. Rubicons seem harder to find good deals on and there are not a lot of 2018 Rubicons left.

What dealership? Iā€™m in Phoenix too and am having a hell of a time getting dealers to play ball.
