Just to update
Got the bearings from Alfa. They are exact match. It was $10 each. They were able to get them in one day.

Got the head gasket too.

Plan is to put the engine together this weekend
Can you take a photo of the deck without the head gasket?

Glad you were able to source the bearings without having to buy a long block!

Keep posting with results, please.

Did you find a service manual or are you learning as you go? Are you a mechanic or machinist by trade or hobbyist? You only doing the obviously bad bearings or are you plastic gauging all of them? What else are you finding needs replacing? Oil pump?

How about the eTorque components? How much more complexity to the motor? Any comments on that stuff other then extra hoses, cooling, electrical? How much more work do you think it adds to the repair?

This brings up a question, if in the future we find that our etorque is unreliable I wonder how easy it would be to remove it and just get the alternator from the 2020 2.0 and flash the ecm.

Etorque generator is connected tru a belt

so you can disconnect it easily

I am hobbyist with engineering back ground

I am changing all the bearings and clips

this engine only has 2k miles. So most of the parts looks good

Did not see any issue with the oil pump

I took the block to a machine shop for them to check everything ( cracks , wrapping ect)

they were not able to find any issues. They will be putting the block together.

I did also change the piston rings ( did not want to take a chance )

I ordered my 2.0T eTorque after talking to someone at the factory who has first hand knowledge. He said eTorque is nothing to be concerned about. It's really not complex. He said it's basically extra battery, power lines, cooling. Other car companies use it also. He was very confidant about it so I went with it after many test drives. I also was more concerned about the reliability of the ESS system the 3.6 had when I ordered. There seem to be more ESS charging and battery issues leaving people stranded then a eTorque failure. So far no problems with mine. Knock on wood! lol. Love the extra oomph and torque.

So eTorque components really did not add much work? Just extra hoses and coolant?

Did they need to hone, was there piston scoring or are you just replacing the rings as insurance?

Makes you wonder how a new motor spun a bearing so soon? Maybe metal stuck in the oil galley from manufacturing? I am sure the machine shop will check the crankshaft oil galleys to see if was plugged or a manufacturing defect. I would think more then one set of bearings would have been bad if it ran out of oil?

How about the turbo, any issues?

May I ask what you think the rebuild will cost?

Definitely following this thread.

Thanks

Here are some picture of the bearings

I will post more pictures once I get everything from the shop

Machine shop check the crank shaft. Did not find any issues

they are going to polish the Check shaft

cylinders looks good per machine shop.

As far as the cost for rebuild
So far bearing cost $120
Rings and the head gasket $100
machine shop cost $500 ( May go up a little )

Was oil dry?

3 different bearings worn like that at 2K miles? I wonder if someone forgot to tighten a oil drain plug or oil filter after a oil change? Or even forget to add oil?

Did you inspect the turbo yet? How are the bearings?

Definitely appreciate any and all pictures.

Thanks!

Do you know if yours was build in Italy or the US? They moved manufacturing to the US at some point to the Trenton plant.
