Just ask @cosine he knows!
Here's my Willys on 285/70/17 with Mopar 2.5 lift. It is definitely more than 2.5 but never precisely measured

Pretty much every lift kit is designed around the Rubicon model, so the Saharas and Sports will always get a larger increase in height. Most of them give extra height because it's assumed that added weight like winches, bumpers, skids, etc will be used to bring the ride height down to advertised.

My first lift was the true 2" Dynatrac Endurosport, and it gave as advertised. This particular lift was designed with mostly commuting comfort in mind, while also serving well as a weekend warrior.

Here's a pic of mine with 315/70-17 bfgoodrich ko2's, which are amongst the smallest 35's.

Most suspension lifts are measured off of a Rubicon and based on varying amounts of bumpers, skids, rockers, winch, etc. So a 2” lift is more like 3” to 3.5” or more for a Non-Rubicon. That’s why people get “more” lift than 2” with lifts like the Mopar. Everything I’ve found is that 33’s don’t look to small on Dynatrac or the Mopar but they look spot on with 35’s.

I think I’m probably going to go with TeraFlex ST1 but then get Metalcloak lower front control arms and front/rear track bars. I really would like the Metalcloak lift but can’t do 35’s (maybe in 5 years) right now so that would future proof my spending.

With Metalcloaks price structure, you can definitely a la carte their parts as needed/wanted without it costing more than buying a full kit.

I get called a nerd for putting all my lift and tire research on a spreadsheet but that’s what I found too about the MC pricing and it’s the best. I like that I won’t really be wasting much money and the Jeep won’t look weird at the same time.

Well, I'm a fellow strong believer in research, research, and some more research. And taking notes along the way, is the best way to keep track of everything. Especially considering the plethora of options for the Jeep.

I've also found that Metalcloak gives a bit better bang for the buck on their parts. They don't use a dealer network like just about everyone else, so they don't need to raise their prices to avoid undercutting their own dealers.

I went through the same thing recently, and ended up going with the AEV 2" spacer lift. Think it looks good with 33s. Only disappointment is it didn't get rid of the rake.

MFR tire sizes are given as unmounted/unloaded height.

315/70/17 = 34.4 (34)

285/75/17 = 33.8 (33)
295/70/17 = 33.3 (33)
275/75/17 = 33.2 (33)

285/70/17 = 32.7 (32)
275/70/17 = 32.2 (32)

245/75/70 = 31.5 (31)

A lot a posts saying "1 got 33's or 35's but realistically it s more like 32's or 34's
I started with 305/65/17 listed as 32.6. They were really about 32.
Very interesting, something i hadnt considered. 285/70/17 might be a better option for me then. thanks!

That looks great. Can you please share your wheel/tyre specs? AEV 2" spacer kit is on my shortlist.

@Headbarcode @JeepJLU402 totally agree with both of you, its the only way to do it, especially when your up for thousands in costs, research is critical, ive got a spreadsheet also, this is the way

This should net 1.5-2” with my peasant bumpers

Did you ask for the spring rate numbers? The highest spring rates, thus potential highest lift, come from a donor Rubicon that came from the factory with steel bumpers, hardtop, and tow package. I believe the last one to be of most importance. I built mine with those options, and it came with 61/62 and 91/92.

I’ll check the tags tomorrow, they only have 1k miles on them and all the tags seem to still be in place

This looks quite good hmmm you got me thinking. Can you clarify you said 3"? typo? what kit did you go with?
Sorry, I just saw this. It's the Iron Rock Foundation Series 3" lift with Doetsch Tech shocks. I really don't like the shocks, as they ride really rough, but the kit was a pretty good budget build.
